摘要： A pocket tide calculator is described which predicts tide times and moon phases in a visual display which gives the semi-diurnal tide times in any given day of the month and can be readily set for the following month. This device automatically leaves out the high or low tide which is alternately missing every 7.5 days. This invention incorporates a compressed time scale when compared with a normal 24-hour clock face which enables a concise display of the semi-diurnal tide cycle.

摘要： A calorie counter for persons wishing to control their weight having a housing with a base and a transparent cover rotatably mounted to the base. An opaque partition is located in the housing parallel to the cover and spaced apart therefrom. This partition has three circular calorie counting scales provided thereon. The partition consists of an inner disk having first and second calorie counting scales and an annular disk which is an outward extension of the inner disk. The annular disk is rotatable and protrudes through a side wall of the base at one location. Two line indicators are provided by two transparent disks located between the cover and the annular partition. The first indicator points to the number of calories contained in a food item while the second indicator points to the total number of calories consumed by the user during a set time period. A gear mechanism operated by a thumb wheel operates both of the indicator disks at the same time.

摘要： Flat indicia wheels are used in conjunction with a Geneva-type register movement. The register utilizes transfer wheels which have an outer edge shaped to contain a plurality of scallops and cusps. Each transfer wheel is associated with a transfer disc that rotates about an adjacent shaft and whose transfer arm causes the transfer wheel to rotate a preselected angular distance by striking a peg attached to the transfer wheel. This type of movement makes possible the use of flat indicia wheels with indicia, or numerals, imposed on a flat surface of the wheel. The presentation of a flat numeral through an opening in a faceplate provides for easier reading and, when used with an automatic reading device such as a light pin, reduces the chances of an erroneous reading.

In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, the logarithmic scales are longitudinally disposed and the slide member may move relative to the fixed member in a horizontal direction. In accordance with other embodiments of the invention, the scales are disposed in a circular arc on members which may be rotated about a common axis.

摘要： A cash register mechanism has targets swingable up and down between a lowered concealed horizontal retracted position and a raised visible position close to and behind a window by means of pushrods actuated by key levers. The pushrods have latchable keeper lugs which when the pushrods move up, bear laterally against a flange on a pivoted latch plate, and move to a position above the flange where the flange can underlie the keeper lugs to maintain the pushrods and targets raised. The latch plate is spring biased toward latching position. The keeper lugs tend to cam the latch plate toward the released position and bow the pushrods in the opposite direction. The latch plate is pivoted at the bottom and the flange inclines upwardly and laterally therefrom toward the pushrods. The pushrods are relatively flexible. When a keeper lug overlies the flange, spring biases oppose releasing movement of the latch plate, permitting additional targets to be raised without camming the latch plate to released position.The targets, pushrods and their supporting means are formed as an integral plastic molding.The targets are releasable to return to retracted position by a release cam engageable with the latch plate carried by a stiffer pushrod actuatable by a target release lever.
