Abstract:
A shaving head (3) comprises at least one cutting unit (4) in which an external cutting member (5) which has a function in contacting skin to be subjected to a shaving action is arranged, and which is suspended relative to a holder (8) of the shaving head (3) through suspension means. In particular, the suspension means comprise at least two pivot constructions, wherein one pivot construction enables a member (9) of the suspension means to be pivotable relative to the holder (8), and wherein another pivot construction enables the external cutting member (5) to be pivotable relative to the suspension member (9) as mentioned. Furthermore, a pivoting stiffness of a connection of the latter pivot construction is lower than a pivoting stiffness of the first pivot construction. In this way, good contour following performance is obtained at two levels, in both relatively small and relatively large curvature changing areas.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a shaving head (5) comprising at least two bladeshaped cutting members (7, 7', 7") each having a straight cutting edge (9, 9', 9") extending parallel to a longitudinal direction (Y) of the shaving head. Each cutting member is supported in a cartridge (11) of the shaving head by means of a supporting member (17) which supports the respective cutting member in a supported area (23) on the respective cutting member. Said supported area extends over a predetermined distance (D) perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. Each supporting member has a first portion (25) in contact with the supported area at a location remote from the cutting edge of the respective cutting member and a second portion (27) in contact with the supported area at a location near the cutting edge of the respective cutting member. The first portion has a basic cross-sectional area, seen perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction, and the second portion has a reduced cross-sectional area. According to the invention, the second portion (27) of the supporting member (17) of at least one of the cutting members (7, 7', 7") extends over at least half of said predetermined distance (D). In this manner, the free space between two adjacent cutting members is considerably increased. As a result, the rinsability of the shaving head is improved, so that the risk of shaving debris accumulation between two adjacent cutting members is reduced.

The cutting edge (14) of each blade (11,12,13) and said surfaces are positioned substantially in one plane (20). The apparatus has a grip portion (1) being connected to said blade assembly (2). The position of at least one of the two guiding members (9,10) is adjustable in a direction perpendicular to said plane (20).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a cutting member (7) comprising a plate-shaped substrate (19) on which a tip (27) is provided which is bounded by a cutting edge (9). According to the invention, the tip comprises an ultimate tip (31) and a basic tip (33), the ultimate tip extending from the cutting edge over a distance d1 and having a profile which at least approximates the equation w = a1.d n1 , and the basic tip connecting to the ultimate tip and having a profile which at least approximates the equation w = a.(d+R) n , where w is a profile thickness (in µm) and d is a distance (in µm) from the cutting edge (9), and n1 is smaller than n, and a1 = a.(d1+R) n /d1 n1 . In this manner, the profile of the ultimate tip is relatively robust and the profile of the basic tip is relatively slender, as a result of which the cutting member has a comparatively high resistance to wear, and the cutting forces of the cutting member are comparatively small. In a preferred embodiment, n1 = n.d1/(R+d1), resulting in the basic tip (33) connecting to the ultimate tip (31) without a kink, so that the cutting forces are further reduced. In another preferred embodiment, the ultimate tip and the basic tip comprise a coating (35) made from a material, for example diamond-like carbon, having a higher modulus of elasticity than the material from which the substrate (19) is made. The cutting member (7) is used as a shaving blade in a shaver (1) according to the invention.
Abstract:

The control unit is provided to control the length of the sequence at least based on characteristics of the input signal. The invention is further related to a corresponding method for pacing the respiratory activity of a subject.
Abstract:
A cleaning unit (1) is provided for cleaning an interior space (15) of a shaving head (10) of a shaver, which shaving head (10) comprises a movably arranged cutter member (20) for cutting off hairs and a contacting surface (14) for contacting a portion of skin to be shaved, which is provided with a plurality of holes for catching and letting through hairs to 5 be shaved off by means of the cutter member (20). In particular, the cleaning unit (1) comprises separating means (30) for constituting a physical barrier between two portions of an outer surface (13) of the shaving head (10) and for conveying cleaning fluid (41). During a cleaning process, an agitated flow of fluid (41) is realized in the interior space (15) of the shaving head (10) under the influence of a centrifugal pump action which is obtained when 10 the cutter member (20) of the shaving head (10) is in motion.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a cutting member (7) for use in a device for shaving hair. The cutting member comprises a steel substrate (15) which is provided with a cutting edge (9). At least a portion of a surface (27) of the substrate including the cutting edge is provided with a protective coating (19) having a hardness which is higher than a~hardness of the steel substrate. According to the invention, the portion of the surface (27) of the substrate (15) provided with the coating (19) is nitride hardened. As a result, the substrate provides an improved mechanical supporting function for the coating. In this manner, the risk that the coating will break as a result of deformations of the substrate, which occur under', the influence of high mechanical loads on the coating and on the cutting edge (9), is considerably limited. Examples of suitable coatings (19) in combination with the nitride (hardened steel substrate (15) are diamond-Like carbon and coatings having a superlattice structure comprising carbon and a metal, e.g. Cr.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a cutting member (7) for use in a device for shaving hair. The cutting member comprises a metal substrate (15) which is provided with a cutting edge (9). At least a portion of the substrate including the cutting edge is provided with a protective coating (19). According to the invention the coating (19) comprises a plurality of stacked pairs (21) of layers, wherein each pair of layers comprises a first layer (23) mainly comprising carbon (C) and a second layer (25) mainly comprising a metal, and wherein each pair of layers has a thickness (TP) between 1 and 10 nm. The second layer preferably comprises Cr, Nb, Mo, Ti, V, or W. As a result, the coating has a superlattice structure which provides the coating with physical properties which are superior to the properties of the individual materials of the layers. In an embodiment wherein the second layer comprises Cr and each pair (21) of layers has a thickness of 1.8 nm, the coating (19) has a hardness that is approximately four times the hardness of Cr and provides a coefficient of friction between the cutting member (7) and the hair to be shaved which is considerably lower than the coefficient of friction which would be obtained without the coating.
