    Abstract: A rotor cover attach and release apparatus (10) for use with a centrifuge. The apparatus includes a knob (17), a cover (20) and housing that are both affixed to the knob. The apparatus also includes an adapter (22) that is connected to the housing along with a plunger (14)that is disposed within the knob and housing. In addition, the apparatus has a first moveable element (18) that is retained within a passage (28) located on the housing and a biasing element (24) located within the housing.

    Abstract: A microplate assembly comprising a multi-well microplate and a plurality of reagent wells proximal the multi-wells. The microplate includes a frame that houses a plurality of open wells in a rectangular array. Reagent wells mounted within the microplate to react with the contents of the open wells during centrifugation. The open wells function as a vessel for liquid samples that occupy predetermined spaces within the interior volumes. Each liquid sample remains within its predetermined space for all orientations of the microplate assembly.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatus for a two chamber freezer whereby both chambers (22, 24) can be maintained at a substantially constant ultra-low temperature, such as within the range of about -40° C to -80° C. Short term items may be stored in and accessed by the upper door (7, 10) from an upper chamber (22) while long term items may be stored in and accessed by the lower door (8, 9) in the lower chamber (24). The upper and lower chambers (22, 24) are thermodynamically independent of each other thereby reducing the power usage of the freezer.
