Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for the production of a sol-gel based matrix. The method comprises the steps of: a) providing a first alkoxysilane of the general formula: R 1 -Si(OR 2 ) 3 and a second alkoxysilane of the general formula (I): b) preparing a first sol-gel component by polymerisation of the first alkoxysilane in the presence of an acid catalyst, c) preparing a second sol-gel component by polymerisation of the second alkoxysilane in the presence of an Lewis acid catalyst, d) Mixing the first sol-gel component and the second sol-gel component for the preparation of a sol-gel based matrix. The above method results in a sol-gel based matrix with high stability and high porosity. The sol-gel based material may be used for the production of a composite or sensor suitable for monitoring analytes. Methods for preparing these composites or sensors are provided as well.

Disclosed herein is sensor for emitting luminescence proportional to the concentration of a target analyte, comprising a luminescent lanthanide entity capable of interacting with a target analyte, wherein the relative luminescence emission intensity of the luminescent lanthanide entity changes, when subjected to an excitation light source, in dependency of the concentration of the target analyte, and a matrix material immobilizing the luminescent lanthanide entity. Also enclosed is a system for measuring a concentration of a target analyte and a composite comprising a layer of matrix material immobilizing a luminescent lanthanide entity and a substrate comprising a microstructure area.

The present invention relates to a new class of substituted aza-triangulenium fluorescent dyes having a hydroxy group attached to an aryl as quenching group. The new substituted aza-triangulenium fluorescent dyes may be attached to a linker, conjugated to carrier molecule such as e.g. a protein, a nucleic acid, a lipid, or a saccharide, or deposited or immobilised on solid support materials. The substituted aza-triangulenium fluorescent dyes are useful for various purposes, including use in sensors for monitoring or determining the concentration of analytes, such as H + (pH), Na + , K + , Ca 2+ , O 2 , CO 2 , H 2 O 2 , ionic strength, redox potentials, metal ions,and metabolites.

The new substituted fluorescent dyes may be attached to a linker, conjugated to carrier molecule such as e.g. a protein, a nucleic acid, a lipid, or a saccharide, or deposited or immobilised on solid support materials. The substituted fluorescent dyes are useful for various purposes, including use for fluorescence imaging and in sensors for monitoring or determining analytes.
