Abstract:
A container is provided in the present disclosure. The container includes at least one outer wall that is made of a low temperature tolerant material where the at least one outer wall is arranged to substantially form the container with an opening end; a tube that is situated inside the at least one outer wall, where the tube and the at least one outer wall are substantially thermally insulated, and the tube is open at one end that is on a same side of the opening end of the container; and a container cover being shaped substantially to match the at least one outer wall, where the container over is capable of covering the opening end of the container.
Abstract:
A process, and apparatus, of performing detection of target pathogen nucleic acids from crude samples in single closed reaction vessel having a capacity of 200μΙ to 1001 μΙ, the apparatus incorporating stirring means.
Abstract:
A specimen container for urine and other liquids is provided having a container lid, an elastomeric septum, a cup, and a non-porous seal. The elastomeric septum covers a septum hole in the lid, and the non-porous seal is affixed to the lid such that it creates a liquid-tight boundary between the septum and the chamber within the bottle. The septum includes a depressed portion and an area of minimum thickness shaped to allow an implement to pass through the area of minimum thickness. The depressed portion may also include a pre-cut which allows the implement to pass through the septum more easily.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides improved methods for bead beating and a bead beating system useful therefor. The bead beating system comprises a sample tube, beads, and a dry blocking agent, and methods for using the bead beating system to extract nucleic acids from cells containing the nucleic acids.
Abstract:
Apparatuses for analyzing total carbon and chemical oxygen demand in a sample are disclosed. Also disclosed is a method for analyzing carbon and chemical oxygen demand. Said apparatuses comprise two vials (12, 14) sealed together with a CO2 permeable membrane (16) therebetween and using acids for removing inorganic carbon and ferrate oxidation for determining organic carbon. An inorganic base is used to optimise the ferrate oxidation. Means for introducing the acids, bases and ferrate oxidants are also provided, such as compressible bulbs (44a-44d) attached to the vials (12, 14), levers (70, 70a, b) or rod (52) with detents (60a, b) introducing the reagents into the vials (12, 14).
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a sample holder(1) adapted to parallel sample isothermal calorimetry performed using microtiter plate layout and horizontal sample loading with a mechanism where the individual sample vials (1a, b) can be individually vertically variable. The sample holder(1)comprises a sample holder plate (2) and a surrounding frame(3), where the sample holder plate (2) is constructed of a multi material low mass multi-layer sandwich and the surrounding frame (3) is constructed of a low mass material with high heat conductivity.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a sample vial (1) for calorimetric measurements. The invention teaches that the vial material (1') is of low mass, and that the vial is at least partially coated with an infrared reflective coating on the outside of the vial. 5 The present invention also relates to a lid (4) adapted to form an ampoule (5) together with the vial (1).
