A sealed rope (1) comprising an elongated core (3) comprising a thermoplastic material and a multitude of load bearing yarns forming a layer (2) around said core (3), wherein, during manufacturing, in between said yarns voids are initially present, wherein at least part of said voids are at least partly filled in the final sealed rope (1) by said thermoplastic material from said core (3). Moreover, the invention is directed to a method of producing the rope and use of the rope in for instance fishery or mining. The rope shows reduced internal wear compared to a rope comprising said voids.

The invention concerns an elongate, flexible line (16) for providing a linkage between a first structure (10) and a second structure (14). The line may be a mooring line. It has an elongate tubular sheath (18) of braided material, the sheath being able to change reversibly and repeatedly in length and its braided structure being such that an increase in length of the sheath is accompanied by a decrease in its lateral dimension. Within the sheath is an impervious flexible bladder (28). The bladder defines a fluid-containing internal chamber (36) which is acted on by the sheath so that the volume of the chamber varies with the length of the sheath. A pressure source (42) is arranged to pressurise the chamber. A passage (40) communicates with the chamber and incorporates a restriction (44). In operation the pressurised bladder urges the sheath to expand laterally and so to contract in length. An increase in extension of the sheath causes fluid to be exhausted from the chamber through the restriction, increasing chamber pressure and providing a damping force opposed to the sheath's extension.

An improved top down furling system includes one or more improved components. A lower rotary drive unit with a rotary tack swivel rotates against a fixed portion of the furler, or is configured to permit routing of the tack line below the unit. The system may include an anti-torsion cable constructed in a manner so as to be able to transmit torque without excessive tension applied to the cable. The system also may include an end terminal of the anti-torsion cable having a quick side mount or bayonet type connection to the rotary drive unit.

The present invention relates to a rope in which the width area of a core material is adjusted by weaving a surface of a wide band-type elastic core material using a surface fiber, rather than a single elastic rubber core material or several strands of rubber core material, so as to enable freer adjustment of the diameter of the rope. The effects of aging do not easily occur even when the rope is used for a long time. Also, the rope is not easily severed even when a portion of the rope is pierced or cut. Manufacturing costs for the same sectional area are reduced. More particularly, an elastic fiber and a core material fiber are immersed so as to form an elastic band woven in a wide band shape, and said elastic band is inserted into the center of several surface fibers rotated and woven in an X-shaped arrangement so as to allow the surface fibers so as to press and surround the surface of the elastic band so as to form the elastic rope. Also, since the core material of said elastic rope is manufactured as an elastic band, the sectional area of the elastic rope may be easily changed by adjusting the width of the elastic band. Thus, even when the rope is used for a long time, cracks do not occur, and the rope may be of a lighter weight than one using a rubber core material. Also, since the core material which is woven in a band shape so as to have either elasticity or inelasticity is woven and manufactured by being surrounded by the several surface fibers, the sectional area of the rope may be easily changed by adjusting the width of the core material. Thus, a separate manufacturing device may be used without having to change the structure of same.

본 발명은 폭이 넓으며 탄성을 갖는 면띠 형태의 심재의 표면을 표면섬유사로 엮어 단일 탄성고무심재나 여러 가닥의 고무질 심재를 이용하는 것보다 심재의 너비 면적을 조절하여 로프의 직경을 자유 자재로 조절할 수 있으며, 장시간 사용하여도 노화현상이 쉽게 발생되지 않는 동시에 일부분이 찔리거나 잘려도 쉽게 절단되지 않고 동일 단면적 제조 비용이 절감되도록 하는 로프에 관한 것으로, 더욱 상세하게는 탄성사와 심재섬유사가 함침되어 넓은 띠 형태로 직조되는 탄성밴드를 구성하며, 상기 탄성밴드를 여러 개의 표면섬유사가 엑스자 배열 방식으로 회전되며 엮어지는 중앙으로 삽입시켜 표면섬유사가 탄성밴드의 표면을 가압하며 감싸서 엮어 제조되는 탄성로프를 구성하여, 상기 탄성로프의 심재가 탄성밴드로 형성되어 탄성밴드의 폭 조절을 통한 탄성로프의 단면적을 쉽게 변경할 수 있으며, 오랜 기간 사용에도 크랙이 발생되지 않으며 고무심재를 사용할 때보다 중량이 가벼워지도록 구성하여; 탄성력 또는 무탄성의 성질을 갖도록 직조된 띠 형태의 심재를 여러 가닥의 표면섬유사를 이용하여 감싸며 엮어서 제조하여, 심재의 넓이 조절로 간단하게 로프의 단면적을 변화시킬 수 있어 별도의 제조기기를 구조 변경없이 제작가능한 효과가 있다.

A belt for suspending and/or driving an elevator car includes a plurality of wires arranged into one or more cords and a jacket substantially retaining the one or more cords. Each cord includes a plurality of wires arranged around at least one non load-bearing core. An elevator system includes an elevator car and one or more sheaves. One or more belts are operably connected to the car and interactive with the one or more sheaves for suspending and/or driving the elevator car. Each belt of the one or more belts includes a plurality of wires arranged into one or more cords and a jacket substantially retaining the one or more cords. Each cord includes a plurality of wires arranged around at least one non load-bearing core.
