Abstract:
Elongated bodies made from high tenacity polyolefin fibers are provided that are useful as fishing lines, and processes for making the lines. Fibers having tenacities of at least 39 g/denier are braided and fused together to form braided bodies having very small diameters.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for impregnating a liquid material into a rope comprising a plurality of fibers and interstices between said fibers, said method comprising the steps of: (a) Providing a liquid material in a tank, said liquid material defining a level of liquid in said tank; (b) Providing an impregnation unit containing a chamber at least partially immersed in said liquid material, said chamber comprising: (i.) a rope-inlet for tightly receiving the rope, wherein said rope-inlet is positioned below the level of liquid; (ii) a rope-outlet for tightly discharging said rope; (iii) a vacuum-outlet; and (c) Providing a vacuum-device operatively connected to said vacuum-outlet for lowering the pressure in said chamber below the atmospheric pressure; (f) Passing the rope through the liquid material in the tank and then inside and outside said chamber via the rope-inlet and rope-outlet, while maintaining the pressure inside said chamber below the atmospheric pressure to force the liquid material to fill at least part of said interstices between the fibers of the rope by penetrating between said fibers.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a rope (35) having a braided sheath (398) that forms the coverbraid about a strength member core (37), said rope (35) being suitable for forming mesh in pelagic trawls, wherein at the outside of the braided sheath (398) a spiraling elongate element (36), e.g. a strand or an extruded elongate element, is provided, said spiraling elongate element (36) having a greater pitch in comparison to a pitch exhibited by other strands (397) forming the braided sheath (398). The rope (35) is stronger for a given amount of material, has lesser drag, is capable of exhibiting same or improved lift when subjected to water flow at trawl mesh angles of attack, while also being less costly to manufacture, in comparison to known helix rope constructions wherein the pitches are equal.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a high traction synthetic rope comprising a braided sheath adhered to a strength member by means of a first synthetic portion and portions of material adhered to the outside surface of the braided sheath by means of a second synthetic portion, where the portions of material are formed of a substance that differs from a substance mainly forming the second synthetic portion and also preferably exhibits greater friction when wet and measured on an iron surface than does the substance mainly forming the second synthetic portion.
Abstract:
The abrasion resistance of organic fiber based ropes and cords is increased by a outer woven cover of tapes of high molecular weight and more preferably ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to a floating element to maintain fishing nets and fishing gears floating. Furthermore a process for production of such floating elements is described. The floating elements are produced by an endothermic process using special mixture ratios between different plastic materials as for instance polypropylene, together with a blowing means. The floating elements have a particular density good upward pull, but are also resilient against bursting and collapsing at use on huge ocean depths.
Abstract:
A rope having a cut-resistant jacket which includes a core comprised of a plurality of sub-ropes. The sub-ropes may be in a parallel strand configuration. The sub-ropes and the strands thereof may be made of fibers of a synthetic material, such as polyester, nylon, polypropylene, polyethylene, aramids, or acrylics. A cut-resistant jacket surrounds the core and is made from a material that has increased strength and/or abrasion resistance over the material of the core. The cut-resistant jacket may comprise steel wires and may further comprise braided steel wires or rope. The braided steel wires or rope may be covered with a plastic material for increased corrosion resistance. A filter layer may be disposed between the core and the cut-resistant jacket and may be wrapped around an outer surface of the core prior to the cut-resistant jacket being formed.
Abstract:
Provided is an elastic rope for indicating a route. The elastic rope according to the present invention includes: external and internal supports formed of an elastic body; and a fiber reinforcing material inserted and coupled between the external support and the internal support, wherein the fiber reinforcing material may be movable between the external support and the internal support.
