Abstract:
A tongueless footwear includes a sole, a first side, an opposing second side, a canopy and a fastening system. The canopy is coupled to the first side and configured to extend over the second side thereby providing substantially direct support for the ankle and instep of a user. The fastening system is configured to securely fasten the canopy to the second side, and can include a toggle system with a cord, anchors and a cord tensioner
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a string length adjusting device which can adjust the length of a string provided in shoes or clothes. The string length adjusting device includes: a fixed housing including a drum rotation shaft formed in a central region thereof; a rotation housing rotatably coupled with respect to the fixed housing; a winding drum inserted into the fixed housing and the rotation housing and including a winding part around/from which a string is wound or unwound; and a coupling unit guide shaft coupling the fixed housing to the rotation housing, the coupling unit guide shaft guiding up/down operations of the rotation housing to wind or unwind the string. Thus, the number of parts may be reduced when compared to that of a string length adjusting device according to the prior art, so as to reduce the product cost and the rate of failure. Also, the ease of assembly of the product and the operational stability of the product may be significantly improved to effectively adjust the length of a string.
Abstract:
A tightening system for an article of footwear includes a cable disposed between an upper and a sole plate. The upper includes a flexible main body and an exoskeleton covering a portion of the flexible main body in an instep region. The cable is attached to the exoskeleton so that the exoskeleton is tightened to a wearer's foot when the cable length is effectively shortened and/or if the cable tension is increased. The instep region is devoid of the tightening system so that a smooth instep region is provided.
Abstract:
Lacing systems are disclosed for use with footwear or other articles. The lacing system can comprises flexible webbing lace guides. In some embodiments, a lace guide can include a first lace guide element and a second lace guide element. The lace can pass through the first and second lace guides consecutively on the first side of the article before crossing to the opposing side of the article. The first and second lace guide elements can be angled towards each other to reduce the occurrence of sharp turns in the lace path through the lace guide elements. In some embodiments, the lace guide can have a central portion that is less flexible than the end portions so as to reduce the occurrence of sharp turns in the lace path through the lace guide when tension is applied to the lace.
Abstract:
A rotary tensioning device (100) that is low profile when not being used to apply or reduce tension and that provides an easily manipulated tightening and loosening control mechanism. A control mechanism in the form of a flip up handle (150) is pivotally connected to a drive member (108) and rotation of the handle (150) and drive member (108) rotates a driven member (114) connected to a spool (128) to take up or let out a cable or wire (136) to apply or reduce tension in the cable or wire (136). When not being used to apply or reduce tension, the flip up handle (150) is pivoted to lie flush against a housing (144) of the spool (128) to provide a low profile. A tension indicating device (140) provides a user with a mechanism for reproducing tensions between uses.

Abstract:
Abstract:
Disclosed is a closure system used in combination in any of a variety of applications including clothing, for example as a footwear lacing system comprising a lace attached to a tightening mechanism. The lace extends through a series of guide members positioned along two opposing footwear closure portions. The lace and guides preferably have low friction surfaces to facilitate sliding of the lace along the guide members so that the lace evenly distributes tension across the footwear member. The tightening mechanism allows incremental adjustment of the tension of the lace. The closure system allows a user to quickly loosen the lace and inhibits unintentional and/or accidental loosing of the lace.
