Abstract:
As a coloring metal pigment that can realize a variety of colors, is excellent in appearance after finishing and weather resistance and can be produced by a safe and simple process, there is provided a coloring metal pigment comprising metal particles having surfaces thereof covered with a single-layer or plural-layer coating characterized in that at least one layer of the single-layer or plural-layer coating consists of a cobalt coating constituted of an anhydrous oxide film in which cobalt is contained as an element. This cobalt coating preferably contains a compound of at least one composition selected from the group consisting of CoO, Co2O3, Co3O4, nCoO.mAl2O3 and nCoO.mSiO2 (wherein each of n and m is any arbitrary positive real number).

Abstract:
The invention discloses magnetic OVP, said pigment consisting of thin-layer flakes having a basic metal-dielectric-metal structure to result in a viewing-angle dependent color appearance, and having, in addition to said viewing-angle dependent color appearance, incorporated magnetic properties, to make them distinguishable from OVP of similar appearance but not having said magnetic properties. The invention discloses as well methods for obtaining such pigments and the use of such pigments as security elements in inks, coatings and articles.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of preventing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and discoloration on the skin. This is achieved by the topical application to the skin of a composition containing a first platelet of alumina treated with a metal oxide, a second platelet treated with a spherical scattering component, and a cosmetic or pharmaceutical carrier. The compositions can also contain a standard interference pigment, such as a white and a yellow interference pigment to further blend the color to closely match the natural skin tone. The combination of pigments and platelets creates a mosaic of color and optically manipulates light such that lines, wrinkles, disfigurations and discolorations on the skin appear to substantially vanish. In addition to the pigments and platelet components, a non-interference pigment can also be added to fine-tune the matching of color to the skin tone. The alumina platelet alone is metallic-looking; however, when it is tempered with the other platelet containing the spherical scattering component, the net effect is that the skin appears natural, luminous and flawless.

The invention relates to silica and iron oxide based pigments and to a method for the production thereof. In order to obtain a silica and iron oxide based pigment, microsilica and an iron oxide source are mixed and/or triturated in a ratio ranging between 2 % and 30 % by weight of iron oxide. A dry agglomerate is obtained by mixing the raw materials, which is calcined at temperatures ranging from 800 DEG to 1300 DEG C, yielding a product which is then triturated to obtain a reddish powder. This colorant has a wide variety of applications, for instance, red and orange colored pieces can be produced when it is added to a standard porcelain earthenware composition.

To provide a liquid curable resin composition which can produce transparent cured products with a high refractive index, high hardness, and superior abrasion resistance, and can be suitably used as a coating material. A liquid curable resin composition comprising: (A) a poly-functional (meth)acrylic compound having at least three (meth)acryloyl groups in the molecule; (B) a reaction product obtained by the reaction of a compound having a polymerizable unsaturated group and alkoxysilyl group in the molecule and particles metal oxide, the metals being selected from the group consisting of zirconium, antimony, zinc, tin, cerium, and titanium; and (C) a radiation polymerization initiator.
Abstract:
An oxidized zinc pigment has been developed that can be used in a waterborne coating. The zinc metal allows for improved stability in waterborne systems while retaining the level of activity required for an anticorrosive material. This pigment is oxidized enough to prevent corrosion and still be dispersed in the waterborne coating, while still allowing for cathodic and anodic corrosion protection in the coating once applied to a metal surface. This zinc pigment may also be used in a waterborne ink or coating system and also for coated metal articles.
