Abstract:
Mobile phone users can subscribe to a notification for new content by creating a profile of user preferences on the operator or manufacturer' s website on a server (103). When new content matching the profile becomes available, the server will send to the mobile phone (115) a WAP push message containing a link to the content. The user can access and download the new content by- pressing a dedicated key on the mobile phone and following the link in the WAP push message.
Abstract:
A method for controlling unauthorized use of digital content includes identifying digital content for validation. Characterizing information is generated that designates the identified digital content, and usage rights for the identified digital content are determined based on the characterizing information, for example, based on a comparison of the characterizing information that designates the identified digital content to a plurality of characterizing information. Usage of the identified digital content may also be controlled based on the determined usage rights. Related systems, methods, devices, and computer program products are discussed.
Abstract:
Methods of displaying broadcast media content information to a user include receiving at a first receiver first content from a first channel of a multi-channel broadcast media system while receiving at a second receiver information regarding the content on a second off-channel of the multi-channel broadcast media system. Then, at least some of the received information regarding the content on the second channel is displayed to the user. A database of information may also be provided that includes, for example, information regarding listening/viewing preferences of the user. This database of information may be used, for example, to select the off-channels that are scanned for content information and/or to select what information is displayed to the user.
Abstract:
Methods of providing broadcast media source tuning information to a remote device from a mobile terminal having a local user interface include receiving a user request to transmit tuning information for a selected broadcast media source from a user interface of the mobile terminal and receiving an identification of the remote device that is to receive the tuning information from the user interface of the mobile terminal. The tuning information is formatted based on a protocol for tuning type information providing for automatic tuning of the receiving remote device to the selected broadcast media source and the formatted tuning information is transmitted to the identified remote device responsive to the user request. The tuning information may be transmitted as an SMS, MMS or email message over a Bluetooth protocol network or via an infrared port of the mobile terminal. The broadcast media source may be a radio and/or a television broadcast and the tuning information may be an associated station identification. Mobile terminals and computer program products are also provided.
Abstract:
A splitter component may be used by itself or with one or more ancillary devices to provide client devices local IP access (LIPA) using local area network (LAN) addresses, while contemporaneously providing quality of service (QoS) functionality to the access terminal for data communicated via a modem, contemporaneously with providing the LIPA. The splitter device may assign a higher priority to traffic of a type having QoS functionality. The QoS functionality may include any combination of a latency requirement, a signal quality requirement, or a signal strength requirement. Providing the one or more devices LIPA using one or more LAN addresses may include assigning each of the client devices an IP address and implementing a dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) relay on an associated router, or other LIPA functions.
Abstract:
Techniques for enhanced backhaul flow control are provided. In an exemplary embodiment, a backhaul control system is described that comprises a base station controller (BSC), a backhaul network, and a base transceiver station (BTS). Each is responsive to data and messaging transmitted and received. In one aspect, the BTS includes a queue and a controller. The amount of data in a queue is adjusted by a controller based upon calculating a target queue size value. The controller non-uniformly adjusts the amount of data in a queue based upon a target queue size value which is based upon communication system parameters. The target queue size and amount of data in a queue is adjusted so as to reduce buffer underrun, decrease system latency, and increase communication system throughput.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a system, method, and computer readable medium for creating and managing a category based list in a mobile communications device 10. A category 202 with an assigned category name and a list 204 with an assigned list name associated with a category name are created in the mobile communications device 10. A set of parameters governing the list 222 is then defined. The set of parameters 222 can include a list expiration date 302, a group access parameter, group user identifiers, privileges 304 that group users will have with respect to the list, and a check-out time parameter 514 indicating how long a group user can maintain exclusive access to the list. List items can include text items, audio items, video, multimedia, and picture items. Items can be added to lists manually 406, via a received message 408 or copied from another application 410. In addition, a list can be checked out for editing by a group user.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to video rate adaptation techniques that may use information from a medium access control (MAC) layer and radio link protocol (RLP) layer. The techniques may greatly reduce video delay by adjusting video encoding rate. For real-time video telephony (VT) applications, these techniques may provide graceful quality degradation and improve user experience, especially when the channel conditions degrade.

Abstract:
The disclosure relates to reverse link lower layer assisted video error control. A method may encode video data, form a packet with the encoded video data, and transmit the packet across a wireless channel to an access network. A medium access control (MAC) layer may receive a negative acknowledgement (NAK) from the access network. The method may determine whether the received NAK is associated with a packet that contains video data. If the received NAK is associated with a packet that contains video data, the method may perform error control.
