Embodiments of the present invention generate linked advertisements. Linked advertisements may include a preliminary advertisement and one or more subsequent advertisements. In one embodiment, the viewer is only shown the subsequent advertisement upon detecting a positive reaction to the preliminary advertisement. The subsequent advertisement is associated with presentation triggers that specify a context in which the subsequent advertisement should be presented. The context may be defined by a time of day, location, user activity, and/or other parameters. For example, the presentation trigger may specify a context in which the user is able to purchase an advertised good or service. For example, the context could be the user driving (activity context) near a coffee shop (location context) in the morning (time context). The reaction to the preliminary advertisement may be explicit or implicit.

Disclosed are a transmission device and method, and a reception device and method, for a program-linked stereoscopic broadcasting service. The transmission device relates to a transmission device for a program-linked stereoscopic broadcasting service, and comprises: a real time stream encoder for encoding a reference image and generating a real time stream; a non-real-time (NRT) stream encoder for generating an NRT stream on the basis of an additional image; an image synchronization information generator for generating a stream of a service signaling and image synchronization information - service signaling and image synchronization information include event information table and program map table - for synchronization of the reference image and the additional image, on the basis of 3D contents synchronized information; and a re-mutiplexer for generating a program-linked stereoscopic broadcasting stream by multiplexing the real time stream, the NRT stream, the service signaling, and the image synchronization information stream.

The subject matter of this specification can be embodied in, among other things, a method that includes identifying metadata related to television programming. The method further includes sending search requests that include the identified metadata to a search system for selecting at least one portable program module. The method further includes in response to a first one of the search requests, receiving first search results from the search system that identify the selected portable program module and outputting a representation of the selected portable program module to a display device for presentation concurrently with the television programming. The method further includes in response to a second one of the search requests, receiving second search results from the search system that no longer identify the selected portable program module and ceasing the output of the representation of the selected portable program module.

Various techniques for receiving broadcast at a mobile broadcast receiver are described. In an aspect, the broadcast receiver provides user notification and/or automatically launches an application based on user preferences. In another aspect, the broadcast receiver improves channel switching time by predicting future channel selection based on real-time monitoring of user inputs. In another aspect, the broadcast receiver supports drag-and-drop user interface. In another aspect, the broadcast receiver provides additional information associated with a selected broadcast stream. In another aspect, the broadcast receiver processes a broadcast stream and sends output data to an external device for further processing and/or display. In another aspect, the broadcast receiver simultaneously displays live content and stored content. In another aspect, the broadcast receiver simultaneously receives multiple broadcast streams for displayed on one or more display units. In another aspect, the broadcast receiver collects user statistics and sends the statistics to a network entity.

Aspects describe conveying unicast information and broadcast information in a resource set for a transmission request. The unicast information and broadcast information can be transmitted at substantially the same time. Power control can be applied separately to the unicast information and the broadcast information for reliable decoding. A null request can be indicated by "00" bits in a unicast portion and a zero power level in the broadcast portion.
