Abstract:
The invention relates to a voice reinforcement method and system for schools, universities, corporate environments, government institutions and homes or the like. The system comprises two main elements – a portable unit and a main unit. The portable unit comprises a microcontroller, an audio codec, a RF transceiver, and an IR transmitter. The main unit comprising a microcontroller, an amplifier, a speaker, an IR receiver and a RF transceiver. Method for activation of the portable unit and the main unit comprises the following steps: activation of a portable unit from a sleep mode upon switching a power button; activation of a pairing mode in the portable unit; sending IR control signal to a main unit to activate said main unit from a sleep mode; activation of a audio codec (4) of the portable unit to be able to receive voice signals; and activation of a Mic input of the portable unit.
Abstract:
A system for creating and viewing customized multimedia segments allows a user to create event identification data from in-band data in a program stream. The in-band data is processed and compiled into event identification data associated with the content stream. The event identification data identifies patterns or sequences of in-band data associated with events in the content stream. Metadata are also included in the event identification data. The event identification data is provided to multimedia devices which receive multimedia content streams containing content streams with in-band data. The in-band data are parsed and compared to the event identification data. If a match occurs, the multimedia device uses the metadata to identify events or perform specified actions.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for delivering content to a mobile communication apparatus (2) in a mobile network, including the following operations: a location server is used to determine the geographical position of the apparatus (2); a territory containing the apparatus (2) is subsequently deduced; the delivery paramaters in force in the territory are extracted from a database using an application server (14); and the apparatus (2) is remotely configured using the application server (14) in order to enable same to receive the content.
Abstract:
A method, system, mobile device, apparatus and computer program product are provided for accurately determining whether one or more rights objects associated with a mobile device are valid. In particular, a secure time source (e.g., DRM clock or time) may be maintained by the mobile device and used to check the validity of the one or more rights objects. In order to ensure that the secure time source or clock remains accurate, the mobile device may update the secure time source by regularly requesting and receiving the DVB-H network time from a DVB-H network entity. Because the DVB-H network time is secure, accurate and readily accessible, it provides an ideal tool for correcting possible drift in the mobile device's secure time source.
Abstract:
An audio integrator monitors the outputs of a plurality of audio sources, and a controller prioritizes the audio sources. An active audio detection circuit determines when one or more of the audio sources become active. When the two or more audio sources are active simultaneously, the controller directs the highest priority audio source to one or more speakers. If a lower priority audio signal is currently playing, newly active voice communication audio, such as communications or directional information, is delayed to preserve the beginning of the message during an audio switch-over. A currently-playing, lower-priority audio signal may be decreased in volume, and a tone unique to the new audio source sounded, prior to the switching the audio to the higher-priority source. During audio input (e.g., while actuating a push-to-talk button on a microphone), all active audio sources are quieted.
Abstract:
Various embodiments of the present invention enable a bottom up analysis approach that derives physiological responses from measured physiological data of viewers of a media, and calculates scores of instances of an event type based on the physiological responses. The scores are then aggregated to rate the event type in addition to scoring the individual event instances. The approach can also form an overall rating of the media by aggregating the event ratings of set of event types within the media.
Abstract:
Embodiments are directed to defining hierarchical digital broadcast transport streams as separate cells, which reduces the signaling in OSI layer 1, and removing use of sub-cells so that the coverage area of a transposer may be treated as a cell. In accordance with at least one embodiment, each hierarchical DVB-H stream (i.e., the HP stream and the LP stream) has its own separate dedicated "current signal" frame. This allows the streams to be independent of each other (even to belong to different networks). Furthermore, in accordance with the hierarchical signal arrangement, a cell can be uniquely identified by its network id and cell id. In accordance with at least one embodiment, frequency may be used as an additional identifier thereby allowing a first cell to be transposed to a sub-cell.
Abstract:
A system for limiting audio output which in one embodiment includes an audio source, headphones coupled to the audio source, and a limiting circuit coupled to the headphones thereby reducing the power output at the headphones to a safe hearing level. The limiting circuit in one embodiment is integrated into the headphones and can not be disabled.
Abstract:
A method and system are provided for secure sharing and purchasing of content on television and mobile devices, where a user, while viewing or listening to content can, with a simple interface, send a link to a sample time slice of the content to another user (or group of users) with optionally annotating the content in real-time or in a time-shifted manner. The shared clip segment can then be used as an incentive for the content to be purchased by the other user or optionally gift it to another user. Furthermore, during the sharing process, the user may engage in a live conversation with recipients who are viewing the shared content segment. The system can enable the user to additionally bookmark any segment of interest, which could be shared subsequently with other users. This experience of real-time or time-shifted sharing of content segments enables the user to approximate a living room or group viewing experience across people who are geographically separated and/or using different rendering devices.
