A compound is provided for treating fly ash and includes a(n) amphoteric, alkyl polyglycoside, ester, derivative of triglyceride, fatty alcohol, alkoxylated fatty alcohol, alkoxylated polyhydric alcohol, and mixtures thereof, wherein the treated fly ash is incorporated into a cement admixture, and is effective in blocking absorptive carbon. A method for treating fly ash in a cementitious mixture including treating with an amphoteric, alkyl polyglycoside, ester, derivative of triglyceride, a fatty alcohol, an alkoxylated fatty alcohol, an alkoxylated polyhydric alcohol, and mixtures thereof is provided. A method for reducing the amount of Portland cement in a cementitious mixture including substituting up to forty percent by total weight of the cement in a mixture with an equal amount of fly ash treated with a(n) amphoteric, alkyl polyglycoside, ester, derivative of triglyceride, fatty alcohol, alkoxylated fatty alcohol, alkoxylated polyhydric alcohol, and mixtures thereof is also provided.

The present invention is directed to pesticidal formulations utilizing novel alkylpolyglycoside amines as adjuvants. The pesticidal formulation need not, but may, include an additional eye irritation-reducing complex. The adjuvant is particularly useful with glyphosate (N (phosphonomethyl)glycine) compositions. Methods for using these pesticidal formulations are also disclosed.

Compounds for controlling aquatic breeding insects including an ethoxylated alcohol with a carbon chain length of about 10 to about 24 carbon atoms and about 0 to about 16 moles of ethylene oxide per mole of alcohol, where the carbon chain is linear or branched with an alkyl group are provided. Methods for making branched alcohol ethoxylated compounds and linear secondary alcohol ethoxylated compounds are also provided. Methods for controlling insects with the compounds are also provided.
