Abstract:
Addition-fragmentation oligomers of the general formula Z-B y -A-(B-A) x -B-A-B y -Z, where the A monomers units are derived from a diester or diacid, the B monomer units are derived from a difunctional monomer having functional groups co-reactive with the acid or ester groups of the A monomer, x+y is zero to 60, Z comprises an ethylenically unsaturated, polymerizable group, and at least one of the A or B monomers comprise a l-methylene-3,3-dimethylpropyl group.
Abstract:
Articles that contain a solid support with a grafted chain extending from the solid support, methods of making these articles, and various uses of the articles are described. More specifically, the grafted chain has a functional group that can react with or interact with target compound. Alternatively, the functional group on the grafted chain can react with a modifying agent to provide another group that can react with or interact with the target compound. The grafted chains are attached to the solid support through a ring-opened azlactone group. The articles can be used to purify the target compound or to separate the target compound from other molecules in a sample.
Abstract:
A one-part epoxy structural adhesive comprising an epoxy resin, a toughening agent, a reactive liquid modifier present in an amount ranging from about 5 % to about 15% by weight structural adhesive, and a latent amine curing agent. The structural adhesive may optionally include reactive diluents, synthetic mineral fibers, fillers, pigments and combinations thereof. The structural adhesive may be used to form bonded joints between metal parts having clean surfaces, as well as those having surfaces contaminated with hydrocarbon-containing materials, such as oils, processing aids and lubricating agents.
Abstract:
A pressure sensitive adhesive is described comprising an acrylate copolymer, silica nanoparticles and crosslinked by a polyfunctional aziridine crosslinking agent.
Abstract:
Hardenable and hardened dental compositions, and articles including such hardenable and hardened compositions, are provided. In some embodiments, the hardenable dental compositions include an acid-generating component and an acid-reactive component including one or more acid-reactive groups. Upon irradiating, and optionally heating, the hardened compositions are useful, for example, for reducing the bond strength of orthodontic appliances adhered to tooth structures with the hardened compositions.
Abstract:
Photoiniferters for controlled radical polymerizations are described. The photoiniferters have a ring-opened azlactone moiety to provide telechelic (co)polymers.
Abstract:
Initiators for nitroxide-mediated radical polymerizations are described. The initiators have an azlactone or ring-opened azlactone moiety to provide telechelic (co)polymers.
Abstract:
Crosslinkable compositions, crosslinked compositions, articles containing these compositions, and methods of making the articles are provided. The crosslinkable compositions, which include two (meth)acrylate copolymers plus a tackifier, are used to form the crosslinked compositions upon exposure to ultraviolet radiation. The crosslinked compositions can function as pressure-sensitive adhesives. The crosslinkable compositions are well suited for use with hot melt processing methods.
Abstract:
A crosslinkable composition is described comprising an acid- and epoxy-functional copolymer, which when crosslinked with a triazine crosslinking agent provides a pressure-sensitive adhesive and pressure-sensitive adhesive articles.
