Abstract:
The disclosure pertains to an intravascular catheter (12), comprising an elongate member having a proximal end and a distal end, a balloon (30) having an interior surface, an exterior surface, a lumen defined by the interior surface and a cylindrical wall extending between the interior surface and the exterior surface, the cylindrical wall having a proximal end and a distal end, the balloon having a plurality of weeping windows (40) disposed in the wall and able to pass an electric current between the interior surface and the exterior surface, wherein the balloon wall is otherwise electrically insulative, and an electrode (36) disposed in the balloon. The intravascular system is suited for modulation of renal nerves, for example.
Abstract:
An integrated crossing balloon catheter (100). The catheter includes a hub assembly (112) secured to the proximal end of (104) the catheter shaft (102), an inflatable balloon (114) secured to the distal end of (106) the catheter shaft, and a stiffening tube (116) positioned over the inflatable balloon and a distal end portion of the catheter shaft. The stiffening tube is configured to be advanced through a vasculature with the catheter shaft as a unit. The stiffening tube is translatable along the catheter shaft from a first position in which the inflatable balloon is within the stiffening tube to a second position in which the inflatable balloon is exposed from the stiffening tube.
Abstract:
Medical devices and methods and making and using medical devices are disclosed. An example medical device may include an elongate shaft having a distal region. An expandable member may be coupled to the distal region. The expandable member may be capable of shifting between a first configuration and an expanded configuration. The expandable member may have a distal portion, a proximal portion, and a body portion disposed between the distal portion and the proximal portion. The body portion may have a projection formed therein that projects radially outward from the body portion. A flexible electrode assembly may be coupled to the projection.
Abstract:
A guide catheter may include a tubular member having an inner layer defining a lumen extending therethrough, a reinforcing braid disposed about the inner layer, a plurality of steering wires interwoven through the reinforcing braid, and an outer layer disposed about the reinforcing braid. At least a portion of the reinforcing braid may be embedded within the outer layer. An introducer sleeve may be slidably disposed over the tubular member. A flush port element may be operably connected to the introducer sleeve.
Abstract:
Medical devices and methods for making and using medical devices are disclosed. An example medical device may include a catheter shaft. An expandable balloon may be coupled to the catheter shaft. The balloon may be capable of shifting between a folded configuration and an expanded configuration. A plurality of elongate electrode assemblies may be disposed on the balloon. A cover layer may be deposited on the electrode assemblies. Portions of the electrode assemblies may be free of the cover layer.
Abstract:
Medical devices and methods for making and using the same are disclosed. An example medical device may include a medical device for renal nerve ablation. The medical device may include an elongate shaft having a distal region. An expandable member may be coupled to the distal region. A plurality of electrodes may be coupled to the expandable member and a single conductive member may be coupled to each electrode. Where one of the plurality of electrodes is active, the remaining electrodes may be inactive and act as ground or return electrodes. The electrode of the plurality of electrodes that is active may change over time.
Abstract:
A renal nerve ablation device may include an elongate tubular member having a distal region. An expandable member may be coupled to the distal region. An electrode support may be coupled to the distal region of the elongate tubular member and extend over a body of the expandable member. The electrode support may be free of connection to the body of the expandable member. One or more electrodes may be coupled to the electrode support.
