Abstract:
Embodiments of systems and methods for providing collision detection in a wider bandwidth are generally described herein. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.
Abstract:
Schemes are disclosed for efficiently training MIMO channels in wireless networks. In at least one embodiment, multiple STAs in a network may share a single channel sounding packet to develop corresponding beamforming matrices or CSI.
Abstract:
In a wireless network in which a central network device (e.g., an access point) communicates with multiple generations of mobile wireless devices that are backward compatible but not forward compatible, each generation of device may be selectively put into a mode that permits contending for the medium or a mode that does not permit contenting for the medium, through the use of packets that are formatted to be recognizable by some generations but not all generations.
Abstract:
In a high throughput wireless network, data is permitted to be transmitted in a reverse direction during a frame exchange (i.e., from a responder to an initiator). In at least one embodiment, channel training is used for the reverse direction only if it is determined that a performance benefit may result.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for communicating in a wireless network may distinguish different types of packet structures by modifying the phase of a modulation constellation, such as a binary phase shift keying (BPSK) constellation, in a signal field. Receiving devices may identify the type of packet structure associated with a transmission or whether the signal field is present by the phase of the modulation constellation used for mapping for the signal field. In one embodiment, the phase of the modulation constellation may be determined by examining the energy of the I and Q components after Fast Fourier Transform. Various specific embodiments and variations are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Various embodiments are disclosed for techniques to perform channel access decisions (315) and to select a transmit queue. These decisions may be performed, for example, based upon the age (305) and number (310) of packets in a queue. These techniques may allow a node to improve the length of data bursts transmitted by the node, although the invention is not limited thereto.
Abstract:
In a base station using spatial division multiple access communications, different length transmissions directed from a base station to different multiple mobile devices substantially simultaneously may have their start times adjusted so that the transmissions end at approximately the same time. The mobile devices may then respond during a response period with acknowledgments at approximately the same time. Thus all the acknowledgments may be received within the same time period from the end of the transmissions, reducing the likelihood of missed acknowledgments in responses to the shorter transmissions.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for selecting a transmit power level and subcarrier modulation assignments based on measured channel conditions to achieve a performance level for communications over a symbol-modulated subcarrier communication channel are provided.
Abstract:
Various embodiments are described to adaptively use a transmit opportunity in order to use the transmit opportunity effectively. According to on embodiment, a transmit opportunity has a first portion for an initial data burst and a second portion for retry transmissions. The duration of each portion is based upon the estimated number of retry transmissions necessary for a certain initial.
Abstract:
Technology for establishing a device to device (D2D) connection is disclosed. One device comprises a UE that includes a proximity discovery module configured to receive discovery information from at least one of a wireless wide area network (WWAN) and a wireless local area network (WLAN) to assist in establishing a D2D communication channel with at least one additional UE. A D2D communication module is configured to establish the D2D communication channel between the UE and the at least one additional UE using the discovery information. The D2D communication channel is established in a licensed radio frequency band and is managed by the WWAN.
