The invention relates to a direction indicator (1) which is three-dimensional and has the shape of an arrow. The inventive indicator is embodied in the form of a balloon with a shroud made of rubber or film and which is filled with air or helium. The direction indicator (1) comprises securing means (2.1, 2.2) which limit the movement of the direction indicator (1) with respect to a position of rest. The density of the direction indicator (1) is smaller than 5kg/m and preferably less than 2 kg/m . The direction indicator (1) has, therefore, limited mobility and can be displaced by air flows. Due to the movements and the three-dimensional form thereof, it draws people's attention in the simplest manner.

The invention provides an information carrier in the shape of a cylindrical body made of unstretchable plastics which is inflated to be self-supporting. The base of the body is fixed to a platform which may yield when the wind force on the inflated carrier exceeds a given value. The whole assembly then deflects away from the wind.
