Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to soil treating systems and shearing assemblies for use in forestry operations. Embodiments of soil treating systems according to the disclosure include a movement assembly having a front end and a back end, a shearing assembly mounted on the front end of the movement assembly, and leveling assembly mounted on the back end of the movement assembly. In some embodiments shearing assemblies are inverted V-type shearing assemblies. Further aspects of the disclosure are directed towards methods for using soil treating systems and shearing assemblies for preparing land for interplanting an energy crop with a primary crop.

Automated methods, apparatuses and computer program products for controlling environmental parameters in a defined environment are disclosed herein. One method disclosed comprises the steps of: measuring values of temperature, relative humidity, and wind velocity in the environment, calculating a value of perceived temperature as a function of the measured values, and controlling the environmental parameters based on the calculated value. In certain embodiments, the defined environment comprises a chicken house and the temperature perceived by the chickens in the chicken house is calculated as a function of a characteristic of the chickens such as age or weight.

The invention relates to a milling tooth (10) for a comminution machine, particularly for an item of logging equipment, a mulcher, a shedder device, a chopper or an earth working machine, comprising a milling tooth body. Said milling tooth body comprises the following: a working side, which is oriented in a direction of working; a flange side (12) for detachably connecting to a milling tooth holder of the comminution machine; a recess (14); a milling tooth tip (16) located on the side of the recess, and; a milling tooth base (18) located at an end facing away from the milling tooth tip (16), whereby a cutting device (20) is situated inside the recess (14). The flange side (12) on the milling tooth body is provided opposite the working side. An entire side of the milling tooth body, which is oriented in the direction of working, is provided as the working side. The milling tooth tip (16) projects away from the flange side (12) in the direction of a longitudinal axis (26) of the milling tooth body perpendicular to the direction of working, and a first section (34) of the milling tooth body projects away from the flange side (12) in a direction parallel to and opposite the direction of working.

The invention relates to a method of reducing emission of ammonia from animal manure and a plant for the method and a used of such a plant. The method comprises adding to the manure of both an acid compound such as sulphuric acid, H2SO4, and of oxygen, O2. The acid compound results in the pH value dropping to below 7.0 whereby the emission of ammonia is substantially limited. The oxygen results in a very high activity of bacteria transforming organic nitrogen compounds to in-organic compounds that are possible for plants to assimilate when manure is spread in fields. Surprisingly, it has also shown to be the case that the oxygen added, and thus the enhancing of the activity of the bacteria, results in a reduction of the amount of acid compound needed to be added and results in reducing, almost eliminating, the risk of hydrogen sulphide, H2S, being formed.

The one-step system (20) of the present invention provides a highly sanitary, efficient, economical and humane method for raising pigs from birth to finished product (67). Farrowing and raising pigs in just one location helps to reduce virus and bacteria problems as compared with conventional methods and significantly reduces labor costs. As a result, the mature hog is healthier and also more profitable. By allowing composting fibrous material and manure on-site, the waste management system of the one-step system (20) completely eliminates the need for offensive lagoons, and recycles the manure for end products (67) useful in gardening and agricultural applications.

An apparatus (10, 100) is disclosed for connection to a flange (52, 152) of a post. The flange comprises elongated apertures/holes (54, 154) therethrough. The apparatus comprises a body (12 or 112) having projections (14, 16 or 114, 116) that extend from the body to a distal end. A lug (18, 118) projecting laterally from a distal end of each projection has a profile configured such that ti is able to nest in the elongated aperture of the flange when the apparatus is connected to the flange. The apparatus also comprises two locator elements (30, 32 or 130,132) that extend out from the body separately to the projections. The elements are spaced so as to receive the post flange therebetween, whereby the elements locate on opposite sides of the flange when the apparatus is connected to the flange.
