Abstract:
The invention relates to a simplified method for producing cardboard matches, especially for books of matches, comprising the following steps: cutting or punching out at least one piece of cardboard (1) from an especially paper or cardboard-type material in such a way that individual, adjacent strips (5) extending from a first transversal side (3) are formed from cuts (4) in said piece of cardboard (1); providing at least end sections (7) of the strips (4) with preferably, paraffin and with an igniting composition (9) to produce match strips. According to the invention, cuts (4) extending from a second transversal side (3) essentially opposite to the first (3) are also made in the piece of cardboard (1) in order to form additional strips (5).
Abstract:
A system for controlling the issues of input/output instructions applicable to a data processing system which includes a processor module having a CPU and adaptor modules which are in connection with the processor module by a system bus and control input/output devices according to the input/output instructions issued from the processor module. While the CPU executes other instructions after issuing the input/output instructions, the adaptor modules execute the input/output instructions and transfer the results of processing to the processor module. When the results sent from the adaptor modules are not normal, the CPU receives interrupt requests to provide the results of processing in the adaptor modules.
Abstract:
A method of determining the downstream propagation time of signals from a USB Host Controller across one or more USB cables and one or more USB Hubs to a Super Speed USB device, comprising: opening at least one Isochronous communication pipe between the Host Controller and the Super Speed USB device; ensuring that the Super Speed USB device is in link state U0 in preparation for receiving an ITP; controlling the USB Host Controller to send a plurality of ITPs across the Isochronous communication pipe, the ITPs containing respective first timestamps indicative of times at which the Host Controller generated the respective ITPs; locking a local clock of the Super Speed USB device to information that comprises the first timestamp, derived from one or more of the ITPs, the locking being in respect of frequency such that the local clock is syntonised to a timebase of the USB Host Controller and a notion of time of the local clock is substantially synchronised to a notion of time of the USB Host Controller but with a constant phase delay equal to an average downstream propagation time of the plurality of ITPs from the USB Host Controller to the Super Speed USB device; the Super Speed USB device transmitting a plurality of signals to the USB Host Controller, each of the signals containing a second timestamp indicative of a local time in the time domain of the Super Speed USB device when the respective signal was generated by the Super Speed device; the USB Host Controller creating a third timestamp indicative of a time of reception of the respective signals from the Super Speed USB device; the USB Host Controller determining a time period from one or more respective time differences between corresponding second and third timestamps, the time period being indicative of a sum of a downstream propagation time and an upstream propagation time; and determining the downstream propagation time from the time period.
Abstract:
The invention relates to matches for freshening the air and neutralizing odor comprising a head for combustion initiation, a tinder substrate, and a handle. Further, the invention relates to matches for freshening the air and neutralizing odor comprising a head for combustion initiation, a tinder substrate comprising a volatile fragrance, and a handle. In one embodiment, the tinder substrate is an aroma wood, for example, cedar or eucalyptus, comprising a natural volatile fragrance. In another embodiment, the tinder substrate comprises the liquid fragrance carried in said substrate. Further, the invention relates to methods for freshening the air and neutralizing odor comprising the steps of frictioning the head of the match of the invention for combustion initiation, providing the burning tinder substrate of the match of the invention, volatilizing the fragrance from the tinder substrate of the match of the invention for freshening the surrounded air and neutralizing odor.
Abstract:
A system and method are provided for writing a hypermedia file (129) to a multimedia storage device (166). The system includes a processor circuit with a processor and a memory. In this respect, the system may be a computer system or other device of like capability. Stored on the memory and executable by the processor is a hypermedia file writer. The hypermedia file writer includes logic that associates a write actuator (189) with a content of the hypermedia file (129) depicted in a graphical user interface (183) generated by an application (176). The hypermedia file writer also includes logic that packages the hypermedia file (129) for storage in the multimedia storage device (166) upon a manipulation of the write actuator (189), and, logic that writes the hypermedia file (129) to the multimedia storage device (166).
Abstract:
In a DDC 1, a computer (1) gives a data requesting signal to a terminal (33) by superimposing the signal upon a vertical synchronizing signal, and a receiver (24) gives the data requesting signal to a nonvolatile memory (27) through a switch (25). Then the information on a video monitor (4) is read out from the memory (27) and given to the computer (1) through a driver (21) and a data terminal (31). In a DDC 2B, a data requesting signal is given to a data terminal (3) and a clock terminal (32), and part of the data requesting signal is decoded by means of a data request decoder (28) through a receiver (22). The data requesting signal is given to a nonvolatile memory (27) through a switch (25), and information is read out from the memory (27) and given to a computer (1) through the driver (21) and the data terminal (31).
Abstract:
An automatically variable memory interleaving system which provides different interleaving factors for particular groups of memory modules dependent upon the number of operable modules present in the system. In a particular preferred embodiment, the interleaving factor is determined for the module containing the address corresponding to the applied memory address, and this interleaving factor is then used to select particular bits of the applied memory address for determining the module to be enabled and the module address.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a multi-holder apparatus for manufacturing wax and book matches in that many kinds of matches (wax match and book match) can be selectively fixed to a single multi-holder apparatus regardless of kinds thereof, thereby rapidly and easily manufacturing them. To achieve this, circular matchsticks are individually inserted into and fixed to a plurality of gripping grooves formed on a pair of holding bars, which are interlocked with each other up and down and a book match bodies of a plate shape, which are separated from each other by the piece, are inserted and fixed between two holding bars.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for presenting information units. The device comprises history means for storing references to presented information units into a history list. The history means comprise user operable navigation means for changing a current position in the history list and presenting an information unit referenced by the reference at the current position. The device further comprises compilation means for user operably compiling a set of references to desired information units, and storing the references of said set into the history list so as to present an information unit referenced by the compiled set in response to a user operating said navigation means.
