Abstract:
A coated article that demonstrates a sparkle effect and vibrant color over an expanded range of color space is described. A first coating of at least one fluoroolefin and at least one pigment is applied to a substrate, followed by a second coating of at least one fluoroolefin and at least one effect additive. The effect additive is glass flake designed to provide a sparkle effect. The cured film may be provided in a wide range of colors warrantied similar to conventional coatings. A method of making these coated articles is also provided.
Abstract:
The invention provides a composition including conjugated, unsaturated oils, e.g., tung oil, and a polymerization initiator for the polymerization of unsaturated compounds that provides a desirable matt or textured finish on the cured coating. A method for providing a matt finish on a radiation cured coating is also described.

Abstract:
The invention relates to self-cleaning paint coatings that exhibit the Lotus effect3 and to an agent and a method for producing the same. The inventive paint coatings comprise a paint base coat and a top coat, which has structure-forming particles with an average particle diameter of 50 nm. The agent contains a liquid medium, at least one hydrophobing agent that has been dissolved therein and the aforementioned structure-forming particles held in suspension. The method comprises the following steps: coating of a substrate with a paint coat, application of the liquid to pasty agent that forms the top coat to the partially cured or uncured paint base coat and curing of the top coat and if required, the paint base coat.
Abstract:
A polymer composition for coating film formation which, when applied even to a considerably rough surface, dried, and then wetted by water, gives a coating film having sufficient elongation and strength. The polymer composition comprises: an emulsion of either a polyvinyl acetate homopolymer or a copolymer of polyvinyl acetate with one or more monomers selected among acrylic esters, acrylamide, acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, methacrylic esters, maleic acid, maleic anhydride, and fumaric acid; and one or more ingredients selected among aqueous solutions of saps, fruit juices, honey, and saccharides.
Abstract:
The present application is directed to an aqueous coating composition and coating and article formed therefrom. In particular, the aqueous coating composition comprises component A comprising a film-forming resin composition, at least one starch, optional aqueous carriers, and optional additional additives; wherein the at least one starch is present in an amount of 2-20 % by weight, preferably in an amount of 4-10 % by weight relative to the total weight of the component A, and wherein the coating formed by the aqueous coating composition has a 60° gloss of no more than 5° using ASTM D523. The present application is further directed to a coating and article formed from the aqueous coating composition, wherein the coating and article have a haptic effect.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for forming at least one periodic array of cracks of an inorganic micropatterned coating, wherein each crack of said at least one periodic array of cracks extends over the substrate along an axis following a linear direction, each axis of each crack being parallel to the axis of the other cracks. The invention also relates to an inorganic micropatterned coating as defined, said coating being obtainable by the method of the invention. The invention also related to a device comprising an inorganic micropatterned coating of the invention, an ink composition for the production of an inorganic micropatterned coating of the invention and the use of said ink composition for obtaining an inorganic micropatterned coating of the invention.
