Abstract:
A system and method supplies internet protocol television (IPTV) services to a subscriber. A content management subsystem processes and executes integrated workflow functionality for content management of video data to be delivered from a video headend to a subscriber premises. An infrastructure subsystem performs signal processing and routing of the video data from the video headend across the network to subscriber premises based on subscriber requirements at the subscriber premises. A network management, test and monitoring subsystem is coupled with the content management and infrastructure subsystems and includes test and management equipment and control and monitoring systems equipment for monitoring network performance and controlling the infrastructure subsystem and optimizing network performance and video delivery to the subscriber premises.
Abstract:
Methods, apparatuses, and systems are presented for switching between channels of encoded media data involving receiving encoded media data including reference frames and dependent frames for a plurality of channels, wherein each dependent frame refers to at least one reference frame. Frames associated with a first channel from the plurality of channels are decoded to generate a decoded signal for the first channel. While decoding frames associated with the first channel, data corresponding to at least one reference frame associated with a second channel from the plurality of channels are stored. In response to a control signal for switching from the first to the second channel, at least one dependent frame associated with the second channel is decoded by utilizing the stored data corresponding to the at least one reference frame associated with the second channel, to generate a decoded signal for the second channel.
Abstract:
Abstract:
In a system utilizing double wide communication channels, if a particular CPE requires a sustained rate that is greater than the bandwidth of a single channel, data to and from the CPE may be split across Channels A and B. Also, the bandwidth requirements of a particular CPE peaks at a rate greater than the capacity of a single channel, the CPE's data may be split across two channels. In one embodiment, a single wide CPE may communicate with the base station without knowing that it is communicating with a base station configured to communicate using a double wide channel.
Abstract:
A Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) having a gateway configured to output signals on over data tunnels for transfer over a cable network to Customer Premises Equipment (CPE). Each data tunnel is preferably characterized as a one-way data stream of out-of-band (OOB) messaging signals.
Abstract:
A decoder has a plurality of tuners (110a-110d) for receiving data from different sources. Each tuner (110a-110d) has an associated demultiplexer (120a-120d) controlled to select a portion of a received signal corresponding to a selected channel or channels. The demultiplexers output to a remultiplexer (130; 210a-210c) configured to determine selected signal portions that have overlapping addresses, to reallocate addresses of the signal portions so there is no overlap, and to multiplex the signal portions for supply to a common interface slot (140; 220a-220c).
Abstract:
The preferred embodiments of the present invention relates to the preparation and delivery of media content from a source to a remote device, and the use of the remote device to re-construct, format, composite, convert and/or otherwise pre-process the content into a suitable form for presentation/playback. In particular it relates to audio and/or visual content that may be delivered in a piecemeal, disjoint, complex and/or highly compressed form to a remote mobile device such as a mobile phone where such a device may not have the capability to adequately present the content in its delivered form without further pre-processing due to insufficient on-board processing power or format incompatibilities. The present invention also allows for media content to be reconstituted for presentation in a variety of ways without the need to re-deliver the entire content each time.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for antenna switching, grouping, and channel assignments in wireless communication systems. The invention allows multiuser diversity to be exploited with simple antenna operations, therefore increasing the capacity and performance of wireless communications systems. Channel characteristics indicative of signal reception quality for downlink or bi-directional traffic for each channel/antenna resource combination are measured or estimated at a subscriber. Corresponding channel characteristic information is returned to the base station. Channel characteristics information may also be measured or estimated for uplink or bidirectional signals received at each of multiple receive antenna resources. The base station employs channel allocation logic to assign uplink, downlink and/or bi-directional channels for multiple subscribers based on channel characteristics measured and/or estimated for the uplink, downlink and/or bi-directional channels.
