The invention relates to an arrangement in connection with a wire guide roll of a paper machine. The arrangement comprises a wire guide roll (3) which is arranged to guide a wire (1), if the wire is driven to the side from its normal track of travel. The wire guide roll is turned in the direction of travel (A) of the wire by means of at least one actuator (5). The lateral (B) position of the wire is observed by means of a guide flap (2) monitoring the movement of the wire edge, from which guide flap the guidance information is transmitted to a control unit (4) which, for its part, controls said actuator. Furthermore, at least one sensor is arranged in connection with the guide flap to determine the position of the guide flap and to control the lateral exceedings of the wire.

In an example of the disclosure, a first optical sensor positioned adjacent to a web path and having a first sensor beam is utilized to identify a first signal value as the first optical sensor detects an eye-mark as the web is moved along the web path. A second optical sensor positioned adjacent to the web path, downstream of the first optical sensor, and having a second sensor beam, is utilized to identify a second signal value as the second optical sensor detects the eye-mark. A lateral misalignment of the web is determined based upon the first signal value, the second signal value, and a lateral offset of the first sensor beam from the second sensor beam.

The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for transferring printed and/or embossed structures onto a security element, said apparatus comprising a printing or embossing cylinder (3) and a counter- pressure cylinder (5). The security element encompasses at least one substrate in the form of a continuous film (1), at least some areas of which are permeable to light and which is conveyed between the printing or embossing cylinder (3) and the counter-pressure cylinder (5). According to the invention, at least one pivotally adjustable roll (4) which overstretches the continuous film (1) towards one side is disposed before the printing or embossing cylinder (3) in the direction of travel of the continuous film (1) such that the continuous film (1) is inclined relative to the axis of the printing or embossing cylinder (3).

The invention relates to a method in connection with curtain coating a fibrous web (W), said method comprising applying in a processing line (1) to at least one side of the fibrous web (W) at least one layer of coating agent by a curtain coating method. The method comprises adjusting a position of the fibrous web (W) in a cross-direction (CD) of the processing line (1) by means of guide elements (4) arranged for the fibrous web (W) for controlling a relative position between the fibrous web (W) and a coating curtain (22) from a curtain coater (20) in the cross- direction (CD) of the processing line (1). The invention relates also to an arrangement for implementing the method.
