Abstract:
Wiping products, such as facial tissues, contain a temperature change composition that can provide a cooling sensation when contacted with the skin of a user. The temperature change composition includes a phase change material and a non-interfering molecular scaffold. The phase change materials, in one embodiment, can have a relatively high heat of fusion. When undergoing a phase change, the temperature change composition absorbs heat and thereby provides a cooling feeling or cooling sensation to the skin of a user.
Abstract:
An ultrasonic mixing system having a treatment chamber in which at least two separate phases can be mixed to prepare an emulsion is disclosed. The treatment chamber has an elongate housing through which the phases flow longitudinally from a first inlet port and a second inlet port, respectively, to an outlet port thereof. An elongate ultrasonic waveguide assembly extends within the housing and is operable at a predetermined ultrasonic frequency to ultrasonically energize the phases within the housing. An elongate ultrasonic horn of the waveguide assembly is disposed at least in part intermediate the inlet and outlet ports, and has a plurality of discrete agitating members in contact with and extending transversely outward from the horn intermediate the inlet and outlet ports in longitudinally spaced relationship with each other.
Abstract:
A disinfectant wet wipe that contains a germicidal solution and a nonwoven web material is provided. The germicidal solution includes a peracid and peroxide, which can act synergistically together to be efficacious against pathogens when exposed thereto. To stabilize the solution over a period of time (e.g., during storage), a variety of aspects of the wipe are selectively controlled in accordance with the present invention. For example, the nonwoven web material used in the wipe is formed from a synthetic polymer and is relatively hydrophobic in nature. Without intending to be limited by theory, it is believed that such materials possess a lower reduction potential for peroxides/peracids than cellulosic-based materials. In this manner, significant degradation of the peroxide or peracid contained in the germicidal solution is limited. To improve the wettability of the nonwoven web material, one or more surfactants are also employed in the germicidal solution. Besides improving wettability, the present inventors have surprisingly discovered that certain surfactants may also improve the stability of the solution.
Abstract:
The present disclosure generally relates to alcohol antimicrobial skin sanitizing compositions for use in hand washing and skin sanitizing. The antimicrobial skin sanitizing composition comprises an alcohol for providing effective antimicrobial control, one or more cationic compounds for moisturizing and protecting the skin, and a compatible thickening system for thickening the antimicrobial skin sanitizing composition. The antimicrobial skin sanitizing compositions can be used alone or in combination with personal care products.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a package for storing and applying a liquid or semi-liquid composition to an exposed surface. The package has a body having a first side, a second side, a first end, a second end, and an interior cavity located between the first and second ends wherein the first and second sides connect the first end to the second end, and an opening at the first end. A liquid or semi-liquid composition, meant to be applied to the surface, is located and stored in the interior cavity of the body. A substrate is included over the opening of the package capable of transferring the liquid or semi-liquid composition onto the surface. In an exemplary aspect, the package further includes a cover portion positioned over the opening which encloses the substrate and seals the opening in the package.
Abstract:
A diaper rash composition and a method for treating diaper rash are disclosed. In one embodiment, the diaper rash composition contains a volatile silicone, a silicone elastomer, and a diaper rash agent. Of particular advantage, the diaper rash composition can be formulated so as to only contain the above three ingredients. Thus, the composition can be formulated as a semi-solid that contains no emulsifers and is substantially non-aqueous. In alternative embodiments, the composition can also contain a carrier, a non-silicone elastomer, and various other miscellaneous ingredients.
Abstract:
Foamable sanitizing compositions are disclosed. The compositions contain alcohol, water, a foaming agent, and a foam strengthening agent. The foaming agent which may comprise a derivatized dimethicone has been found to cause the alcohol solution to foam even though alcohol has various defoaming properties. The foam strengthening agent may comprise, for instance, a betaine that contains organic molecules wherein at least 90% of the organic molecules have a carbon chain length of 18 carbon atoms or greater. In one embodiment, the composition can be contained in a non-aerosol dispensing container that mixes the composition with air causing the composition to foam when dispensed.
Abstract:
A dispenser includes (i) a reservoir containing a personal care composition, wherein the personal care composition is a moisturizer, sun-protective material, after-sun care material, skin conditioning agent, astringent material, skin cleanser, acne treatment, cosmetic remover, massage oil, or skin nutrient agent; (ii) at least one nozzle in fluid communication with the reservoir; and (iii) an on-off frequency generator in fluid communication between the reservoir and the nozzle, the frequency generator adapted to deliver a pulse rate frequency of 0.1 to 500 Hz.
Abstract:
A cleansing composition is disclosed that changes color during use. The cleansing composition contains a plurality of thermochromic dyes that cause a color change to occur at a threshold temperature and continue to cause a color change over a temperature range. The range of temperatures corresponds to approximately the amount of time sufficient to properly wash or scrub using the product.
Abstract:
Antimicrobial cleansing compositions are disclosed. The cleansing compositions include thin liquid/foaming compositions and gels. The antimicrobial cleansing compositions are effective antimicrobials and safe for everyday use.
