Abstract:
A wound contact device comprising a permeable material and a wound contact layer having voids extending through the contact layer to. a depth in the permeable material. The wound contact layer can comprise a thin sheet or film forming a generally flat and smooth wound contact surface having essentially no discontinuities or gaps. The wound contact layer can comprise a thin sheet of highly calendered fabric forming a wound contact surface having a mean surface roughness in the range of about O microns to about 200 microns. In progressive wound healing, an embodiment of the wound contact device having the fabric contact surface is used in earlier healing stages and an embodiment of the wound contact device with film contact surface is used in later healing stages. The wound contact device is particularly useful in wound dressings for use in suction-assisted wound therapy.

Abstract:
Abstract:
An absorbent material comprises a flexible, skin-conformable, moisture-absorbent sheet member, optionally a net member in sheet form overlying and associated with the absorbent sheet member on at least one face thereof, and a hydrogel disposed on at least one of the net members, when present, and the absorbent sheet member in an amount of less than about 500 g of hydrogel per square metre per face, wherein the aqueous saline absorbency rate of the absorbent material through the face on which the hydrogel is disposed is less than about 300 seconds. Absorbent articles comprising the absorbent material and methods of manufacturing the material or articles are also described.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a reinforced absorbent article that includes one or more reinforcement means. The reinforced absorbent article allows for the use of high-speed processing without machinery malfunction and downtime. In one embodiment the reinforced absorbent article is a reinforced absorbent food pad.
Abstract:
Abstract:
This invention is a thin film device (10) for medical applications such as a wound dressing including an occlusive layer (11) having an edge portion (12) about at least a portion of the thin film device (10), and a non-continuous, hydrocolloid containing polymeric support layer (14) overlying the edge portion of the occlusive layer (11).
Abstract:
A laminated tape/bandage (10) comprising a layer of transversely-spaced, longitudinally-extending elastic strands (16) between a pair of outer layers (12, 14), at least one of which is a warp-knitted (weft insertion) fabric (12) oriented with the knit yarns extending longitudinally and generally parallel to the orientation of the elastic strands.
Abstract:
A wound dressing comprises the combination of (a) a breathable film which is of increased MVTR capability in the presence of a liquid water as compared to moisture vapour alone, and (b) an absorbent fabric material for location on the side of the film remote from the wound to absorb exudate which has passed through the film.
