Abstract:
The subject matter disclosed herein relates to the control and utilization of multiple sensors within a device. For an example, motion of a device may be detected in response to receipt of a signal from a first sensor disposed in the device, and a power state of a second sensor also disposed in the device may be changed in response to detected motion.
Abstract:
A control module interconnecting a transmitter portion and a signal receiver portion of a mobile device is provided. The control module monitors the transmitter portion of the mobile device and, based on the monitored condition, alters the mobile device to inhibit the ability of a transmission signal from a transmitter to interfere with the signal receiver portion, i.e., intelligent blanking. In other words, the control module may disable or modify the signal receiver portion when power on the transmitter portion exceeds a predetermined power threshold level. Alternatively the control module may force the transmitter portion to transmit at a reduced power level.
Abstract:
A portable scented fan with a flat base such that the fan can stand without additional support and a ventilated housing covering the fan blades for safety. The fan blades are made of porous foam impregnated with a scented material. Operation of the portable scented fan causes scented air to blow into the surrounding air space to freshen the air.
Abstract:
A light-to-frequency converter includes a switch (130) connected in series with a reverse-biased photodiode (120). A node (150) in the current path through the switch and the photodiode is connected to the input of a Schmidt trigger (160), whose output controls the switch. New techniques are provided for motion compensation, partial readouts, dark current elimination, non-destructive testing, and sensing the state of a memory cell.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a first process for production of fatty acids directly from any soapstock generated in the alkali refining process comprising of a) adding a lipase directly to the alkaline soapstock to facilitate hydrolysis of mono-,di- and triglycerides without prior neutralisation b) neutralizing and splitting the soaps with strong acids until reaching pH 1-6, c) separating the fatty acid phase from the aqueous by settling and/or centrifugation. In a second embodiment a second process for production of fatty acids directly from any soapstock is subject of the invention. This process comprises i) neutralizing and splitting the soaps with strong acids until reaching pH 1-6 ii) adding a lipase to facilitate mono-/di-/triglyceride hydrolysis iii) separating the fatty acid phase from the aqueous by settling and / or centrifugation In a further subject matter the invention deals with the use of said fatty acids for enzymatic or chemical synthesis of C1 to C6 alcanol esters and / or for chemical dimerisation of the fatty acids. As a consequence the invention also refers to a process for obtaining sterolesters and/or fatty acid esters characterized in that the fatty acids obtained according to the processes for production of fatty acids directly from any soapstock as aforementioned described are a) esterified with C1 to C6 alkanol with a Lipase that is selective for fatty acids and does not transesterify the sterolesters b) the fatty acid esters are separated from the sterolesters by distillation The use of said sterolesters for animal feed, food, health foods and as pharmaceutical agent for lowering cholesterol and/or as precursor for steroid synthesis as well as the use of said fatty acid esters as solvent, for the production of fatty alcohols, as biofuel, and biodiesel, as plastisicer or for dimerization is also subject of the invention.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for combining pressure information from pressure sensors, motion information from dead reckoning or other motion sensors, such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, and geomagnetic sensors, and temperature information from temperature sensors, to separate a change in altitude from a change in environmental pressure or temperature. A change in measured pressure without any motion or change in temperature must be a weather-related barometric pressure change. If there is an associated temperature change, but no motion, and the rate of change is too fast for a normal weather change, the measured change represents a change in sensitivity of the pressure sensor with temperature, and the sensor calibration can be adjusted. A rapid change in pressure, associated with horizontal motion, but no measurable vertical motion represents a movement into a different pressure environment. Only changes in pressure that are associated with measurable vertical motion are true changes in altitude.
Abstract:
Abstract:
