Abstract:
A collar [1, 100, 200, 300] for connecting a duct to a wall [15] having a hole [51] therein bounded by an edge having a predetermined thickness. The collar [1, 100, 200, 300] is constructed from a sheet of material having top, bottom, left and right edges, the sheet forming a tubular structure in which the left and right edges overlap. The sheet includes a groove [10] for engaging the edge of the hole [51]. The sheet also includes first and second detents [3, 4] spaced apart thereon. The overlap of the left and right edges at the top edge changes when the spacing between the first and second detents [3, 4] is changed. The collar [1, 100, 200, 300] also includes a first fastener [6] for fixing the overlap of the left and right edges at the top edge when the edge of the hole [51] is engaged in the groove [10] and a second fastener [2] for fixing the overlap of the left and right edges at the bottom edge. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the groove [10] includes a layer of a sealing material [11, 303] for forming a seal between the sheet of material and the edge of the hole [51]. The collar [1, 100, 200, 300] is shipped with a removable cover strip [16] over the groove [10] for protecting the layer of sealing material [11, 303]. A ridge [13] for forming a seal with the duct when the duct is installed over the collar [1, 100, 200, 300] may also be included in the sheet.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a gland arrangement for securing the end of a flexible corrugated conduit (10) to communicate with an aperture (11) in a wall or plate (12), comprising a first part having a tubular portion (14) extending from an outwardly directed flange (15) adapted to be located against an inner surface of said wall or plate (12) with the tubular portion projecting outwardly through the aperture, means allowing the tubular portion to expand to enable the end of the conduit to be pushed thereinto, tooth means (21) on the interior of the tubular portion adapted to engage with a groove (22) between adjacent ribs of the conduit and a second part in the form of a collar (30) adapted to be slid over the conduit to lockingly engage the outer periphery of said tubular portion to prevent expansion thereof and removal of the conduit.
Abstract:
A connector assembly (15) for providing a substantially fluid-tight connection of a flexible armored conduit (17) to an electrical box. The assembly includes a substantially tubular hollow connector body (30) having locking tabs (37) for mounting the connector body in an aperture of the box. The body (30) includes conduit gripping ribs (45) having an effective spiral arrangement to receive the end of a conduit. A hollow sealing member (60) is telescopingly connected over the connector body (30) in nonrotatable condition, and includes an outwardly extending flange (65) adjacent one end. The sealing member (60) includes a tapered sealing bore (80) for receiving the end of the conduit. The flange (65) has integral annular sealing ribs (67). The assembly includes a hollow sealing sleeve (90) telescopingly surmounting the sealing member and having a compression surface which can contact the sealing member flange to sealingly displace the sealing ribs (67) upon tight connection of the sleeve (90) to the sealing member (60).
Abstract:
Described is a coupling sleeve (1) of which the insertion end (2) is fixed in an opening in a main pipe (4) in a sealing fashion by moving said insertion end (2) outwardly with simultaneous compression of sealing means (8). The sealing means (8) is compressed such that the resulting expansion thereof provides a seal between the insertion end (2) and the periphery of the opening in the main pipe (4). The outward movement is brought about by multiple stretching elements, such as levers (9), arranged about the periphery of the coupling sleeve. Said stretching elements are each and together capable of setting a predetermined fixed distance (8) between fixed points connected to the periphery of the insertion end (2) and a stop part (7) resting on the outside surface of the main pipe (4). The sealing means (8) is made of a resilient material which is compressed between the lower flanged edge (3) of the insertion end (2) and said stop part (7).
Abstract:
A coupling and valve assembly which permits a connector member (70) to be used to open and close the valve assembly with only one hand and which provides safeguards against accidental release of liquid therethrough. The coupling valve assembly comprises a spout (21) and a valve member slideable (22) within the spout, these two parts being so shaped as to provide inner and outer seals therebetween on either side of a dispenser outlet and a one-way stop (40) which prevents excessive outward movement of the dispenser outlet but permits the dispenser outlet to move inwardly to an open position. The valve member is normally moved to its open position by pushing a connector member (70) into the valve member; if desired, this connector member (70) can have a second, spring-biased valve, (84) which is opened by a projection (22a) on the valve member.
Abstract:
A plumbing fitting assembly includes an anchor member for being received in a transverse hole in a structure. One end of the anchor member is externally threaded and the other includes a catch portion for engaging a surface of the structure adjacent the hole. The threaded end is threaded into a clamping member configured to form a seal with the opposite surface of the structure or another liquid conveying structure. The anchor member can include a tool formation for mating with a rotating structure of a tool. The assembly can include a lock ring for being lockingly received in an interior passage to prevent the catch portion from deflecting inwardly when installed. The plumbing fitting assembly can also be configured for forming a plumbing fitting at a transverse hole in a flexible, liquid-impermeable panel.

Abstract:
A fitting for a pipe generally includes a saddle for coupling the fitting to the pipe and a tap for establishing fluid communication between the fitting and the pipe. The saddle defines a channel extending generally longitudinally through the saddle, and the channel is free of threads. And, the tap is configured to couple to the saddle within the channel of the saddle. A press for installing the fitting to the pipe generally includes a housing configured to releasably couple to the fitting, and a spike configured to releasably couple to the housing and extend at least partly through the fitting for piercing the pipe to thereby allow at least part of the fitting to be inserted into the pipe through the piercing in the pipe to thereby establishing fluid communication between the fitting and the pipe.
