The method also includes extending at least one fluid injection conduit including a plurality of fluid injection passages defined therein into the gasification reactor. The invention is hollow structural members, a rail system based thereon and method of manufacturing such hollow structural members. Embodiments of the structural members may be hollow triangular prism-shaped with a cross-section that is triangular, isosceles, hexagonal or otherwise. Embodiments of rail systems based on hollow structural members are also disclosed. Embodiments of the rail systems disclosed herein may also include reaction assemblies for local dissipation of stresses due to thermal expansion of track materials.

A method and apparatus for assembling an exhaust treatment device such as a catalytic converter employs post calibration to achieve a desired bulk gap density of a support mat surrounding a substrate in the device housing. The mat is gauged under pressure to a thickness yielding the target bulk gap density and the pressure is saved for use in comprising the device housing against the mat after soft stuffing of the mat/substrate subassembly into the housing.

A muffler (50) for use in a refrigerant compressor (2) which includes a muffler housing (68), an intake tube at one end of the muffler housing for receiving a flow of refrigerant fluid, and an exhaust tube at another end opposed of the muffler housing (68) to exhaust the flow of refrigerant fluid. The muffler housing (68) is adapted to structurally carry a pressure relief member (60) therein. The pressure relief member (60) is in fluid communication with the intake tube. A discharge tube is connected to the exhaust tube for transporting the flow of refrigerant fluid from the exhaust tube to a compressor discharge port for discharging the refrigerant fluid from the compressor.

A fuel processor (115) for converting hydrocarbons (104) to a hydrogen-rich reformate (108) containing water and combustible gas is enclosed in an enclosure (105) containing a collection vessel (140) for receiving water (118) separated from the reformate. The vessel is open to the enclosure interior (155) and has a drain (132) for directing water out of the enclosure. The enclosure has a ventilator (160) for evacuating combustible gas (185) and directing the gas (176) to a combustor when high levels of combustible gas are present. A gas detection sensor (180) monitors the interior and a processor (175) receives data from the sensor to control the removal of combustible gas. The apparatus may include separators (120), (146) for separating water from the reformate and fuel cell exhaust. The vessel (140) is connected to a process water tank (165) for receiving process water. Methods for manufacturing the apparatus and separating water from a reformate stream for safe disposal are disclosed.

The invention relates to a method for producing stainless steel press fittings (2) in practically one single working operation, comprising two steps, which can be carried out simultaneously or consecutively. The blank (3) is cut into lengths and is widened and upset in a work tool (5) in order to form the desired pipe connection areas. The method is characterised by its reliability in producing stainless steel press fittings (2). Other pressure-resistant and tough metals can be used. The method is especially suitable for combination with a subsequent rolling step or abrasion step in the production of press fittings (2) made of welded stainless steel.
