In some embodiments, a multistage scrubber that includes a plurality of stages, each stage comprising one or more scrubbing modules having adsorbents configured to adsorb and remove molecules from a flowing mixture of gas traversing the multistage scrubber is disclosed. The sorbents may be used in repeatable adsorption-regeneration swing cycles including concentration swing adsorption (CSA) cycle, temperature swing adsorption (TSA) cycle and pressure swing adsorption (PSA) cycle.
摘要:
A method of producing temperature and pressure conditioned fluids using a fuel cell. The fuel cell generates an anode exhaust stream of water vapour and carbon dioxide. The water in the exhaust stream is condensed and separated to produce a stream of water and a stream of carbon dioxide. A first portion of the stream of water is heated to produce a stream of steam, which is combined with the fuel to form the anode input stream. A stream of condensed carbon dioxide is obtained by condensing at least a portion of the carbon dioxide in the stream of carbon dioxide. At least one fluid is heated and compressed to a target temperature and pressure for each fluid, the at least one fluid comprising a second portion of the stream of water or at least a portion of the condensed carbon dioxide.

A system and method of producing syngas from a solid waste stream is provided. The system includes a low tar gasification generator that gasifies the solid waste stream to produce a first gas stream. A process module cools the first gas stream and removes contaminants, such as metals, sulfur and carbon dioxide from the first gas stream to produce a second gas stream having hydrogen and carbon monoxide. The second gas stream is received by pressure swing absorber which removes carbon monoxide and increases the purity of the hydrogen to allow the generation of electrical power by a PEM fuel cell in a power module. A water gas shift process may be used to convert carbon monoxide recovered from a retentate stream exhausted by the pressure swing absorber.

A system and method of producing electrical power from a solid waste stream is provided. The system includes a low tar gasification generator that receives a feedstock stream, such as a solid waste stream. The feedstock stream is gasified to produce a first gas stream that includes hydrogen, at least one contaminant and at least one diluent. At least one clean-up process is performed on the first gas stream to remove the at least one contaminant and generate a second gas stream. Electrical power is generated by a solid oxide fuel cell in response to receiving the second gas stream. The solid oxide fuel cell outputting an anode exhaust gas stream. A portion of the anode exhaust gas is vented to reduce the level of diluent in the second gas stream.

The present invention relates to a catalytic system that is able to produce different chemical products by direct electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide by controlling easily tunable parameters, such as applied current/potential, pressure, temperature, electrolyte composition and nature of the cathode at temperatures from room temperature up to 100°C, and pressures from atmospheric pressure up to 100 bar. These chemical products are alcohols with one to ten carbon atoms, ketones up to four carbon atoms and syngas. The catalytic system comprises a catalytic cathode coupled to a hydrophilic ionic liquid-based electrolyte containing water and dissolved C0 2. Preferably the invention envisages the use of carbon dioxide captured from industrial emissions and the use of electricity from renewable resources.

Systems and methods are provided for arranging processing units in a common volume to allow for processing of a fluid flow as part of a mass and/or heat transfer process. Fuel cells are examples of processing units that include separate flow paths for processing two input fluid flows with mass and/or heat transfer between the separate flow paths. The arrangements described herein can allow a gas phase fluid flow to be delivered to a first process flow path of processing units in a common volume. The gas phase fluid flow can be delivered in a relatively uniform manner without the use of an intervening manifold to distribute gas from the common volume into the processing units.

A system and method in which a high temperature fuel cell stack exhaust stream is recycled back into the fuel inlet stream of the high temperature fuel cell stack. The recycled stream may be sent to a carbon dioxide separator that separates carbon dioxide from the fuel exhaust stream. The carbon dioxide separator may include a carbon dioxide separation membrane, an oxygen blocking membrane, and a water blocking membrane.
