Abstract:
The invention concerns a method for producing a sealing ring which employs a washer which is transformed in several forming processes into an annular washer with a profiled cross section. During shaping, the peripheral area is given greater wall thickness, both to avoid a sharp edge which could lead to injuries and to provide the necessary rigidity for applying the twist-off lid.
Abstract:
A steel can end (10) for beer and beverage cans has a reduced thickness (t) and a reduced panel depth (Z) from an aluminum can end, resulting in a reduced unit depth (Y). Such reduction in the size and gauge of a can end without compromising acceptable limits of buckle pressure, rivet formation considerations, and "pop and tear" force considerations results in substantial savings on material costs. The steel can end (10) also resists thinning in panel wall (14) and counter sink radius (18) and can thus be formed from a circular or round blank (95). A single action press apparatus and method is used to reverse form the steel can end (10).
Abstract:
A press for converting work pieces into finished parts has an elongated bolster (20) mounted on a press bed (14). The bolster (20) supports columns (24) on which a ram (36) is slidable. The bolster (20) also supports the lower die shoe (42) of the press tooling. A conveyor (56) or transfer system mounted on the bolster (20) carries work pieces into and out of the area of the tooling. The bolster (20) is a unitary piece which integrates support of the die shoe (42), columns (24) and conveyor (56) to assure proper cooperation and alignment among them. A pivotable carrier (58) mounts a feed mechanism (136) for feeding a stock strip (140) into the tooling. Power to the feed mechanism (136) is supplied through a shaft (128) which is coaxial with the hinge line (124) of the carrier (58), so that the carrier (58) can be swung away from the tooling for service access without requiring disconnection of the power supply. A traveling vacuum box (44) on the lower die shoe (42) supports the conveyor (56) for vertical as well as longitudinal motion, and retains the work pieces on the conveyor (56).
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and apparatus for marking a metallic workpiece for tracking and tracing the metallic workpiece throughout its production and consumer lifecycle are disclosed. The mark may be formed on a sheet of a metallic material. In some embodiments, a bodymaker forms a cup from a blank cut from the sheet into the metallic workpiece with the mark positioned on a closed end of the metallic workpiece. The mark is scanned for tracking and tracing at various points during the production of the metallic workpiece and during the lifecycle of the metallic workpiece, such as at a point of filling, point of sale and a collection point where the metallic workpiece is recycled or destroyed. Information collected as the mark is scanned provides valuable information that can be used to improve the manufacturing process, strategic production and distribution, incentivize recycling of the metallic workpiece, and to improve deposit return programs.
Abstract:
La présente invention se rapporte à des récipients type boîtes de conserve, fermés à l'une de leurs extrémités par un fond souple attaché à la boîte par l'intermédiaire d'un anneau de sertissage qui est un anneau soudé.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A container lid according to the present invention comprises a central region (10) bounded by a perimeter region, wherein the edge of the perimeter region has a curled lip (14) defining a cavity extending around the perimeter of the lid. The opening giving access to this cavity has a width, which is equal to, or narrower than, the largest cross sectional width of the cavity. In addition, the present invention relates to a method for producing a container lid.
Abstract:
A container closure (10) includes a generally planar body (12) having a product side (14) and a customer side (16). The body (12) includes a container opening (20). The container opening (20) includes a shifted material line (30).
