Abstract:
A log wall construction including a plurality of log blocks, each having a substantially same height-dimension and laid next to each other to form a log block row having a log block row length. Log blocks next to each other have at least one pair of adjacent curved surfaces for each pair of log blocks next to each other. A second log block row of the plurality of log blocks laid next to each other to form the second log block row having a second log block row length and being located on top of the first log block row. A stringer located between the log block row and the second log block row and separating each log block row from each other log block row. The stringer extends substantially an entire distance equivalent to both the log block row length and the second log block row length.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to charge-engineered antibodies and penetration-enhanced targeted proteins and their uses for therapeutic treatment or therapeutics delivery.
Abstract:
A subsea monitoring system, comprising a plurality of sensor nodes, a communication network operably coupled to the sensor nodes and at least one central controller. Each of the sensor nodes and the central controller comprise an acoustic transceiver and an optical transceiver.
Abstract:
The present disclosure includes an external fixator ring that includes a central opening, inner and outer ring surfaces and upper and lower ring surfaces. In some embodiments, one or more apertures are defined in the inner or outer surface for receiving securing devices. The apertures in the inner or outer surface are adapted to provide rigid attachment for connection struts while allowing for a range of motion between the interconnected rings. In some other embodiments, the external fixator ring further comprises angled flanges extending radially from the inner or outer surface. The angle flanges each include a mounting surface, apertures are defined in the mounting surface of the angle flanges for receiving securing devices.
Abstract:
Methods and assemblies for reducing the volume of a lung (20). A plurality of anchors (38) are anchored at different positions in the lung. A cord (40)nis attached to each of the anchors. The anchors are drawn towards one another via the cords to cause the lung to collaspe, thus copressing the tissue in the lung and establishing a reduction in lung volume.
Abstract:
Training Garment A training garment (10) for developing an athlete's inspiratory muscles, comprises a resistance band (12) and adjustment means (13). The resistance band (12) is configured such that when the training garment (10) is in use during the performance of aerobic exercise, the resistance band (12) embraces the athlete's thorax and imparts a resistive load thereto. The adjustment means (13) enable the athlete to vary the applied resistive load. The training garment (10) resists the expansion of the athlete's thorax during the performance of aerobic exercise, but without restricting the athlete's range of motion.
Abstract:
Methodologies for determining one or more staged topologies for a communication network, communication networks implementing one or more staged topologies, and systems for determining one or more staged topologies for a communication network are provided. In one embodiment, a method of determining a staged topology for a wireless communication network including a plurality of nodes includes identifying a plurality of topologies comprising different subsets of available communication links among the nodes, establishing the beaming capabilities at each node, selecting a subset of the identified topologies meeting the beaming capabilities of each node, associating a connection matrix with each identified topology in the subset of topologies, establishing one or more sequences of topologies using the identified topologies in the subset of topologies, multiplying the connection matrices associated with the topologies in each sequence of topologies to obtain a sequenced connection matrix corresponding with each sequence of topologies, multiplying each sequenced connection matrix by a weighting matrix to obtain a total cost matrix corresponding with each sequence of topologies, and selecting one of the sequences of topologies as the staged topology based on the total cost matrices corresponding with each sequence of topologies.
Abstract:
A container formed by wrapping a slotted flexible sheet about rigid end panels having corner projections (38) that extend through the slots (44). The end panels are formed by a flap (14) foldably connected to the sheet which may be reinforced by other connected flaps (14', 14"). Additional reinforcement may be provided by end panel stiffener inserts (86). Stacking projections (24) on the end panels extend through slots (42) in the flexible sheet to maintain the sheet in place.
Abstract:
A method of joining articles (2) together with the aid of conductive polymer components. The conductive polymer components are neither heat-recoverable themselves nor fixed to heat-recoverable articles and preferably comprise a sintered ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene which undergoes a dimensional change when heat is generated within it. Specific components useful in joining or modifying articles such as pipes or cables are sealing strips (10), pressure access devices (60), and conductive polymer tapes (20).
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and apparatus for marking a metallic workpiece for tracking and tracing the metallic workpiece throughout its production and consumer lifecycle are disclosed. The mark may be formed on a sheet of a metallic material. In some embodiments, a bodymaker forms a cup from a blank cut from the sheet into the metallic workpiece with the mark positioned on a closed end of the metallic workpiece. The mark is scanned for tracking and tracing at various points during the production of the metallic workpiece and during the lifecycle of the metallic workpiece, such as at a point of filling, point of sale and a collection point where the metallic workpiece is recycled or destroyed. Information collected as the mark is scanned provides valuable information that can be used to improve the manufacturing process, strategic production and distribution, incentivize recycling of the metallic workpiece, and to improve deposit return programs.
