A rim center measurement tool with a cross bar (12), a scale member (16) with scale (14), and a plunger (18) is provided. In an operative orientation the tool is used to measure an expandable rim, and the scale member (16) is rigidly mounted to the cross bar (12) such that the relative position between the cross bar (12) and the scale member (16) does not change. Also in the operative position the plunger (18) slides relative to the cross bar (12) to a point of engagement with the expandable rim (22). The relative position between the plunger (16) after engaging the point of engagement with the expandable rim (22) and the scale (14) of the scale member denotes a measurement of the expandable rim (22).

O presente modelo de utilidade propõe uma configuração aplicada em envelope para recauchutagem de pneumático por processo de recauchutagem a frio. No estado da técnica são conhecidos envelopes formados por duas partes. No entanto, as formas de vedação entre as partes conhecidas não são satisfatórias, seja por problemas de vedação, seja por diminuírem a vida útil do envelope. Com o intuito de superar essas limitações, o presente modelo de utilidade propõe um envelope (20) compreendendo duas partes (22, 24), em que uma região da extremidade (224a) de uma aba (224) da primeira parte (22) está coberta por uma região da extremidade (244a) de uma aba (244) da segunda parte (24), ou vice-versa, de modo a formar uma junta por sobreposição, em que a extremidade livre da aba (224) da primeira parte (22) tem ao menos uma seção transversal diferenciada (224b) de espessura maior que a espessura da dita aba (224), e em que a junta por sobreposição está coberta por um anel elástico (26) dè largura suficiente para cobrir a dita seção transversal diferenciada (224b).

A method provides a retreaded tire by curing a tread with tread lugs extending from an under tread and tread voids between the tread lugs onto a tire casing. The tread and at least a portion of the tire casing are sealed in an envelope in a manner that provides voids, including the tread voids, within the seal of the envelope. The enveloped tire casing and tread are positioned within a vessel and a liquid is introduced into the envelope to fill at least some of the voids around the tread. The pressure and temperature in the vessel is increased in order to connect the tread to the tire casing by compressing and heating the tire casing and tread. In the presence of the liquid, the tread and tire casing maintain their shape despite the elevated pressure and temperature.

The present invention include tire treads and methods of forming a retreaded tire, which includes the steps of providing an annular tire carcass configured for receiving a tread and providing a plurality of tread components each comprising an independent structure. The plurality of tread components are then assembled to form a tire tread, the tire tread having a thickness extending between a top side configured to engage a ground surface during tire operation and a bottom side configured for attachment to an annular tire carcass configured for receiving the tire tread. The assembled tread is bonded to the tire carcass to form a retreaded tire, the tire tread being arranged along an outer circumference of the annular tire carcass with a bonding layer between the tire tread and the tire carcass, where bonding layer includes an uncured elastomeric material being cured during the step of bonding.

The present invention relates to an apparatus (10) and a method for retreading a tyre (16) having a worn surface (12). The worn surface (12) is made of a thermoplastic elastomer. The apparatus (10) includes a heater (34) and a 3D printer (18). The heater (34) is adapted to heat up the worn surface (12) to a desired temperature. The 3D printer (18) is adapted to lay one or more layers of the thermoplastic elastomer onto the heated worn surface (12). The or each layer of thermoplastic elastomer is capable of adhering to the heated worn surface (12) or previously laid layer without requiring an adhesive medium or agent.

Particular embodiments of the present invention comprise methods for retreading a tire and a retreaded tire formed by such methods. Such methods include assembling a retreaded tire by: applying a bonding layer along an outer side of a pre-existing tread layer of a tire carcass and within the one or more voids arranged within the pre-existing tread layer and applying a new, uncured tread layer along an outer side of the bonding layer. Such methods further include arranging an annular mold about the outer side of the tread of the assembled retreaded tire such that one or more void molding elements are arranged to terminate overtop and adjacent one of the one or more voids arranged within the pre-existing tread layer outer side. Such methods further include molding the new tread layer to the tire carcass according to hot retreading operations.
