Abstract:
In one aspect, a translational parallel manipulator is provided and includes a fixed platform including three guide members. The three guide members include first ends and second ends, and the first ends of the three guide members are all coupled to each other and the second ends of the three guide members are all spaced-apart from each other. The manipulator also includes a movable platform spaced-apart from the fixed platform and three serial subchains coupled between the three guide members and the movable platform. In one aspect, a translational parallel manipulator is provided and includes a fixed platform, a movable platform spaced-apart from the fixed platform, and a plurality of subchains coupled between the fixed platform and the movable platform. At least one of the plurality of subchains includes no more than four one degree-of- freedom joints.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for an actuation system including a plurality of single actuation units for modular control of a tendon-driven robotic mechanism are disclosed.
Abstract:
A substrate processing apparatus including a frame, a first SCARA arm connected to the frame, including an end effector, configured to extend and retract along a first radial axis; a second SCARA arm connected to the frame, including an end effector, configured to extend and retract along a second radial axis, the SCARA arms having a common shoulder axis of rotation; and a drive section coupled to the SCARA arms is configured to independently extend each SCARA arm along a respective radial axis and rotate each SCARA arm about the common shoulder axis of rotation where the first radial axis is angled relative to the second radial axis and the end effector of a respective arm is aligned with a respective radial axis, wherein each end effector is configured to hold at least one substrate and the end effectors are located on a common transfer plane.
Abstract:
A modified delta linkage robot uses a reverse orientation arm linkage that includes an inwardly direct lower arm. This reverse arm orientation provides a number of advantages with respect to access over an extending surface such as may occur in a home, office or other environments shared with people. The delta linkage may also have application in certain factory environments, particularly when combined with an omni wheeled base. The linkage and the preferred linkage and omni wheeled base provide a stable movable platform. In addition this combination can advantageously include a number of sensors to take active steps to discourage and/or reduce the effect of sudden forces applied thereto.
Abstract:
The present invention comprises: a fixed four-node link in which four links are joined together in a hinged fashion, comprising a fixed link of which the position is fixed, a connecting rod positioned on the opposite side of the first link, an input-side transmission link connecting the end on one side of the connecting rod and the first link, and an output-side transmission link positioned on the opposite side of the input-side transmission link; an input link part to which an actuator is attached, and which is joined in hinged fashion between the two ends of the input-side transmission link; and an output link part which is fixedly joined to the output-side transmission link and is turned by means of the output-side transmission link, and the one-degree-of-freedom link device according to the present invention and the robot arm using the same can be used to allow easy attachment and detachment between link devices and achieve smooth action in a robot arm in accordance with what is desired.
Abstract:
A module of a center link pivotably connected to two outer links has continuously rotatable faceplates rotatably disposed on the two outer links, thereby creating four degrees of freedom (4-DOF). Modules may be connected via faceplates to produce a "snake" assembly. A single module may move forward in a straight line through simultaneous rotation of the two faceplates. By reversing the rotation of the faceplates, the module may turn in its own length. By sequentially pivoting the outer links relative to the center link, an "inch worm" movement may be used to move the module. Interconnections of two or more modules increase the number of available degrees of freedom, and increase the flexibility of the resultant assembly. Apertures in the faceplates and the outer links allow for interconnection of modules and allow for electrical power and signal connections. A battery housed in the center link provides power for each module.
Abstract:
An instrument wrist uses members having epicycloidal and hypocycloidal surfaces to bear loads and preserve a separation of reference points in the same manner as circles rolling on each other. The cycloidal surfaces can be uniform, stepped, or blended and can be arranged to ensure geared motion of members without addition of additional gearing structures. A hypocycloidal surface provides a concave contact that improves resistance to deformations under load. The wrist mechanism is tendon stayed, which keeps members in contact, and optionally gear structures can be integrated into the members to ensure geared motion and support roll toques.
