    摘要: Disclosed is an ionic conductor comprising a metal composite oxide characterized by comprising oxygen defects and metal defects in a cryolite lattice. An electrochemical device comprising the ionic conductor is also disclosed. The metal composite oxide has an improved ion conductivity, because formation of an open space within a lattice is ensured by the defects of metal ion sites in the lattice. Therefore, the metal composite oxide is useful for an ionic conductor or an electrochemical device requiring ionic conductivity.

    摘要: The present invention provides an electrochemical process for reducing metal contaminants in calcium carbonate by solubilizing the metal contaminate in an aqueous solution of calcium carbonate and then removing the solubilized metal contaminant by passing an electrical current through the aqueous calcium carbonate containing the solubilized metal contaminant. Calcium carbonate produced according to the process of this invention is particularly suitable for use as food or pharmaceutical additives. The calcium carbonate is also suitable for use in papermaking process as fillers, or coatings, or as additives in the production of plastics, paints and adhesive products. Other uses of high purity calcium carbonate include catalysts and catalyst supports, electrical/semiconductor applications, fluorescent lighting, and optical/laser applications.

    摘要: An improved lime slaker in which the lime is combined with the slaking liquor in a vertical conduit (18) which extends below the level of the liquor in the slaker vessel (10). The slaking liquor is introduced into the conduit at a high velocity tangential (26) to the interior surface of the conduit to flush the lime into the vessel. The slaker includes a vertical vent pipe (28) that extends through the bottom (14) of the vessel. In a preferred embodiment, the inlet of the vent pipe is surrounded by an entrainment separator (32). Removable covers (24, 36) permit convenient access for inspection and cleaning of the conduit and the vent pipe.
