Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to the field of liquid crystal display devices and more particularly to a liquid crystal display device operating in vertically aligned mode (VA-mode) in which liquid crystal molecules having a negative dielectric anisotropy are aligned generally perpendicularly to a panel surface of the liquid crystal display. A liquid crystal display according to the invention comprises a liquid crystal cell (6) of a vertical alignment mode, at least one polarizer (2, 10) arranged on each side of the liquid crystal cell, and at least one compensating structure (3, 7) disposed between the liquid crystal cell and at least one of the polarizers. The polarizers have transmission axes (11, 18) which are perpendicular to each other.
Abstract:
A liquid display panel contributing to thinning, being limited in color shift with wide band and wide viewing angle, providing a good color reproduction, and being capable of favorably preventing light leakage at black displaying. The liquid crystal panel comprises, in the order mentioned, a first polarizer (11), a first protection layer (51), a first optical compensation layer (21), a first negative C plate (31), a liquid crystal cell (40), a second negative C plate (32), a second optical compensation layer (22), a second protection layer (52), and a second polarizer (12). The first optical compensation layer (21) is disposed between the first protection layer (51) and the first negative C plate (31) so as to be in close contact with the first protection layer (51) with no adhesive between them. The second optical compensation layer (22) is disposed between the second protection layer (52) and the second negative C plate (32) so as to be in close contact with the second protection layer (52) with no adhesive between them. The first and the second optical compensation layers (21) (22) are coating layers functioning as a ?/4 plate, with respective thickness of 0.3-3 µm. The first and the second negative C plates (31) (32) are coating layers, with respective thickness of 0.5-10 µm. The inventive liquid crystal panel can be applied to, for example, a VA-mode semi-transmissive reflection type liquid crystal display unit.
Abstract:
The disclosed embodiments are intended to compensate for residual off-state retardances of LC Panels. Described are various compensators for compensating for in-plate and out-of-plane retardances of LC panels in their dark states.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an in-plane switching (IPS) mode liquid crystal display. More particularly, the IPS mode liquid crystal display according to the present invention includes: 1) a first polarizing plate, 2) a liquid crystal cell, 3) a retardation film having a positive biaxial acrylic film and a negative C plate, and 4) a second polarizing plate, thus improving the contrast characteristics at the front surface and tilt angle of the IPS mode liquid crystal display.
