Such lines have a minimum width of 0.1 to 5 mm, preferably 0.2 to 0.7 mm, even more preferably about 0.5 mm. Planar zones without recesses can also be used instead of lines such that the formed alphanumeric character, pattern, or graphic element is visible only in rear illumination but not in front illumination. The image displayed by the security element in front illumination is thus different from the image displayed in rear illumination, at least when viewed from the side of the substantially opaque, rastered layer.
