Abstract:
An assembly includes a light-permeable film layer, a release liner, and a print pattern. The print pattern includes a base layer. The print pattern sub-divides the film layer into a plurality of discrete base layer areas and/or a plurality of transparent areas. The base layer includes a design imaging surface of a first color. The release liner includes an imperforate material. The release liner includes a release surface. The imperforate material when viewed through said light permeable film layer is a second color contrasting with said first color by the graytone of said second color differing from the graytone of said first color by at least 10%. This contrast may provide a more realistic perception of how the assembly will look in situ (e.g., on a window).

Abstract:
A coated transfer sheet comprising a substrate having a first and second surface; at least one thermosetting and/or UV curable polymeric barrier layer overlaying said first surface, at least one release layer overlaying said at least one barrier layer; and an optional image receiving layer; wherein the coated transfer sheet exhibits cold peel, hot peel, or warm peel properties when transferred. The sheet may be imaged in electrostatic printers and copiers or imaged with other image marking techniques such as Ink Jet, conventional printing inks, thermal wax, and all craft-type markers. The resulting image may be imagewise applied to a receptor.
Abstract:
There is provided an article having a compliant article where the compliant article comprises an polymer layer and a first layer disposed along a first major surface of the polymer layer; and a plurality of microspheres partially embedded and adhered to a major surface of the first layer opposite the surface that is disposed along the first major surface of the polymer layer, wherein the article has a compression modulus of less than or equal to 0.5 MPa. There is also provided an article having a compliant article where the compliant article comprises a polymer layer; and a plurality of microspheres partially embedded and adhered to a major surface of the compliant article, where the article has a compression modulus of less than or equal to 0.5 MPa, and further where the article is a decorative article.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A process and apparatus for manufacturing a film that can be used to apply varnish and colour onto an object to be decorated. The process includes the steps of: (1) applying a layer of colour onto a first film, which has release properties; (2) applying a layer of varnish onto the colour layer of the first film; (3) partially curing the varnish layer; (4) transferring by release the layers of varnish and colour from the first film onto a second film having release properties, wherein the second film is more flexible than the first film; and (5) further curing the transferred layer of varnish on the second film.
Abstract:
The disclosed invention relates to a method of making a dry paint transfer laminate 100, comprising: extruding a paint film layer 110 over a release liner 130; and extruding a pressure sensitive adhesive layer 120 over the paint film layer 110, wherein the release liner 130 comprises: a backing liner 132 having an upper surface 133 and a lower surface 134; a first release coating layer 135 overlying the upper surface 134 of the backing liner 132; the first release coating layer 135 comprising a resinous material hardened or cured to bond to the backing liner 132 and form a matte release surface spaced from the backing liner 132, the matte release surface contacting the extruded paint film layer 110; the matte release surface of the release liner 130 releasably adhered to the paint film layer 110 for transferring a matte finish to the paint film layer 110 when the release liner 130 is removed therefrom.
Abstract:
A design transfer sheet of one embodiment of the present disclosure contains a release layer and a design transfer layer releasably mounted on the release layer, and the design transfer layer contains a thermally adherable first surface layer and a thermally adherable second surface layer in that order from the release layer side.
Abstract:
The invention comprises a laminated, said laminated article comprising: a bonding agent (14) for bonding said article to a surface, a sheet (12) providing a functional effect and a releasable liner (16) releasable from the balance of said article, wherein said sheet is interposed between said bonding agent and said releasable liner, such article as may be used to apply a functional effect to a surface. The functional effect may be color. The article has plies which preferentially release from one another or adhere to one another as desired for bonding to the surface, either temporarily, for respositionability, or permanently, for long-term use.
