摘要:
The present invention relates to a method and a network control node for tracing activity and monitoring performance of user equipments in a partly IP-based wireless communications network. The wireless communications network comprises operator controllable and/or operator uncontrollable wireless access points in communication with a network control node via one or more operator controllable and/or operator uncontrollable Internet Protocol, IP, networks. The described method is characterized by a first step of receiving a trace triggering request and user equipment identification, at a network control node, from a first network node. Alternatively, the trace triggering request is received on a signaling connection that explicitly identifies the user equipment. The network control node then starts a trace recording and information retrieval procedure relating to the identified user equipment and identifies all used IP networks and user equipment serving access point. The method further comprises the steps of analyzing the IP networks used between the network node and the user equipment and/or analyzing the user equipment serving access point. Thereafter, a trace printout is created including analyzing results and retrieved information, the printout is to be sent to a second network node, or stored locally for later retrieval.

A method for planning the communication system network comprises: obtaining the current network road-test information; regulating the propagation model according the road-test information; generating the needed parameters to plan communication system network according to the road-test information and propagation model. The equipment for planning the communication system network involves the overlay forecast of 3G network according to the 2G road-test data and the regulated propagation model. The equipment provides the more exact propagation model and the results of overlap forecast.

A cellular communication system comprises an access point (101) which supports an underlay cell of a first cell on an underlay frequency using another frequency. A proximity detector (113) detects user equipment (109) in response to a wireless transmission therefrom, which uses a different transmission technology from a transmission of the cellular communication system. In response to the proximity detection, the access point (101) temporarily transmits a pilot signal on the first cell frequency. The user equipment (109) is then switched to the access point (109) and the underlay frequency in response to a detection indication from the user equipment (109) indicating that the pilot signal has been detected. Following the switch the access point (101) terminates the transmission of the pilot signal.

A method for instigating a location/routing area update procedure (LAU/RAU) when a piece of user equipment (UE) reselects its communication base station from a macro base station to a shorter range base station positioned within a macro cell of the macro base station is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of establishing a radio resource control connection between the UE and the shorter range base station; registering the UE with the shorter range base station; assigning location area code data (LAC) and routing area code data (RAC) from the shorter range base station to the UE; wherein the LAC and RAC data are the same data as the LAC and RAC data provided to the UE by the macro cell base station, whereby the UE does not perform a LAU/RAU procedure when it moves out of range of the shorter range base station and recommences communication with the macro base station.

Providing an inter-femto Base Station (fBS) network to facilitate low interference, low power cellular access utilizing two or more fBSs is provided herein. For example, a group of fBSs can be inter-connected by a wired and/or wireless communication network. Multiple fBSs then can link with a mobile device and coordinate cellular traffic amongst the fBS network to facilitate hand-off related communication. Additionally, cellular traffic can be forwarded from one or more fBSs to an appropriate fBS designated to carry cellular traffic for each mobile device. Furthermore, by inter-connecting multiple fBSs, multi-base station cellular-type hand-off can be supported by the fBS network, while preserving predetermined cellular interface constraints associated with such mobile devices.
