Abstract:
A method for improving hydrocarbon flow from a consolidated, tight reservoir rock (12) having authigenic clay cementation includes thermally heating the reservoir rock in-situ surrounding a production well (10) to change the mode of occurrence of clay cemetns within the rock (12) so as to enhance reservoir permeability and carrying out rapid flowback into the production well (10).
Abstract:
A resin blend of LLDPE produced using a metallocene catalyst system and low density, high pressure polyethylene can be extruded into films exhibiting improved optical properties and impact strength.
Abstract:
This invention is a crystallization process for p-xylene recovery. A single temperature crystallization stage (18) is used for producing p-xylene from a feed having an above equilibrium p-xylene concentration, such as from toluene disproportionation.
Abstract:
A composite sheet of a flexible release liner, which is useful in high speed operations, the release liner is coated on one side with a crosslinkable high release coating formulation comprising (a) a silicone-acrylate release component; (b) an acrylate-containing crosslinking agent, such as a silicon-acrylate crosslinking agent having a higher acrylate content than the (a) silicone-acrylate, trimethylolpropane triacrylate or epoxylated trimethylolpropane triacrylate; and (c) an acrylic ester monomer or oligomer selected from the group consisting of octyl acrylate, isodecyl acrylate, stearyl acrylate and lauryl acrylate, specifically the (c) acrylate is free of silicone and more than two acrylate groups per molecule.
Abstract:
Pre-blended combinations and reaction products of at least one metallic dithiocarbamate and at least one metallic dithiophosphate provide the synergism of antiwear properties with friction-reducing properties for lubricants and greases.
Abstract:
Long chain alkyl substituted naphthalenes are produced by alkylating naphthalene with an olefin or other alkylating agent with at least 6, and usually 12 to 20 carbon atoms, in the presence of an alkylation catalyst comprising a zeolite having both ammonium and protonic species associated with the exchangeable sites of the zeolite. The zeolite is usually a large pore size zeolite such as USY. The presence of both ammonium and protonic species increases selectivity for production of long chain mono-alkyl substituted naphthalenes in preference to more highly substituted products.
Abstract:
A release film for label stock comprising a substrate having on at least one side thereof a coating of a silicone release material, said substrate being derived from an oriented high crystallinity polypropylene (HCPP) having intermolecular steroregularity greater than 93 % as determined by IR spectroscopy.
Abstract:
A well tool (20) for delivering fluid (e.g. sand or gravel slurry) to different levels within a wellbore which is comprised of delivery conduit (21) which, in turn, has a plurality of exit ports (29) spaced along its length. Each exit port has an exit tube (27) connected thereto. Each exit tube (27) includes a portion whose length lies substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the delivery conduit (21) which permits larger exit ports to be used which, in turn, substantially reduces the likelihood of an exit port (29) becoming blocked to completion of a well operation. Also, where at least a portion of an exit tube is inside the delivery conduit (21), the concentration of the sand flowing through the exit tube (27) will be substantially the same as the original concentration in the slurry since sand particles will not tend to by-pass an exit port (29) and remain in the slurry. This prevents the premature dehydration of the slurry and the resulting buildup of sand within the delivery conduit (21) which is normally associated therewith.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for measuring thickness and traction properties of a elastohydrodynamic lubricant (EHL) films is described. The apparatus utilizes at least one ball or roller (64) loaded against the internal diameter of a transparent ring (19) having a larger radius than the ball or roller (64). A lubricant is placed between the rotating roller (64) and the ring (19) thereby forming an EHL film where the ball and the ring contact. Roller (64) and ring (19) rotating speeds are controlled (10, 20) to obtain different amounts of sliding motion between their surfaces. Contact between the surfaces and the resulting film are observed via the transparent ring (19) which allows optical measurements of lubricating film thickness. Traction forces generated during contact are measured by any suitable measuring device (98).
Abstract:
A catalyst composition for producing linear low density polyethylene with relatively narrower molecular weight distributions is described. The catalyst is formed by treating silica having reactive OH groups with a dialkylmagnesium in a solvent for said dialkylmagnesium; then adding to said magnesium-containing support a mixture of R''OH and SiCl4 to form an intermediate which is subsequently treated with a transition metal to form a transition metal-containing intermediate, the catalyst precursor. The catalyst precursor is activated with a trialkylaluminum compound.
