Abstract:
An interference screw suitable for surgical use is provided. The interference screw is constructed from bone and includes an elongated body having an outer threaded surface, a tapered insertion end and a central throughbore. Insertion tool engaging structure is formed along the walls defining the throughbore. The insertion tool engaging structure extends from the proximal end of the elongated body over a substantial portion of the length of the elongated body. The insertion tool engaging structure functions to distribute the forces required to insert the interference screw throughout the body of the interference screw to prevent fracturing of the interference screw during insertion into bone.
Abstract:
A suture anchor assembly including a delivery system for a therapeutic agent, such as a bone cement, that is directly integrated into an anchor inserter. The therapeutic agent flows through a shaft of the inserter into a central cannulation of a fenestrated anchor body. Holes in the anchor end of the shaft allow the therapeutic agent to pass through the holes in the shaft and through the apertures in the anchor body into the region of the repair site.
Abstract:
There is provided an anchor for ligament surgery including: a lower end part provided with a first through hole axially formed through the lower end part; a body part positioned on an upper end of the lower end part and provided with a second through hole axially formed through the body part, the second through hole communicating with the first through hole; and an upper end part positioned on an upper end of the body part and provided with a third through hole axially formed through the upper end part, the third through hole communicating with the second through hole, wherein a surgical drill bit provided with a pointed part on a free end thereof is removably inserted into the first through hole, the second through hole, and the third through hole.
Abstract:
A bone fixation device according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes a nail extending along a longitudinal axis. The nail is provided with a transverse bore arranged along a transverse axis that intersects the longitudinal axis. The bone fixation device further includes a screw assembly received in the transverse bore, and a locking device. The locking device is configured to clasp the screw assembly to lock the screw assembly against movement along the transverse axis and against rotation about the transverse axis.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed for providing a compression fixation between a first and further component. The apparatus comprises an elongate body having a head end and a tip end and comprising a screw thread including a first region in which the screw thread has a corresponding first pitch and a further region, extending from the tip end, in which the screw thread is tapered and has a corresponding further pitch that continually decreases away from the tip end.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the bone anchor assembly (36, 50) described herein have adjustable lengths and therefore accommodate many needs. Therefore, the physician does not need to maintain a multitude of bone anchors having a variety of lengths in order to be prepared for many situations. The bone anchor assembly (36, 50) has an elongated hollow shaft portion (38, 52) formed of multiple shaft segments (46, 58) joined together. The length of the shaft portion (38, 52) is adjusted after the implanting of the bone anchor assembly into the bone by removing shaft segments (46, 58).
Abstract:
An orthopedic implant system includes a wedge implant. The implant includes a body having an upper surface extending generally in a first plane. The upper surface has a first plurality of longitudinal grooves and a second plurality of transverse grooves extending therealong. Portions of the upper surface extend between adjacent longitudinal grooves and transverse grooves form individual peaks. A lower surface extends generally in a second plane, parallel to the first plane. The lower surface has a third plurality of longitudinal grooves and a fourth plurality of transverse grooves extending therealong. Portions of the lower surface extend between adjacent longitudinal grooves and transverse grooves form individual peaks.
Abstract:
