Abstract:
The invention relates to a system for enabling the delivery of a dispatch in a postal operator's messaging network, wherein the applied receiver's address is a receiver-specifying virtual address. The system is adapted to signal the virtual address to a first database carrier and to return, in response to signaling, an operator's server address relevant to the virtual address. In addition, the system is adapted to send the dispatch to said operator's server address, as well to use a delivery address, which matches said virtual address on a second database carrier, for enabling a delivery of the dispatch in a postal operator's messaging network.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for providing current email addresses or contact information to members within a social network are described. In one described method, an email program application requests an email address for a member within a social network. Using profile information associated with the member, the email address is provided to the email program application which sent the request. The email address is then entered into the send-to parameter field of an email message. In another described method, contact information associated with a first member of a social can be provided to a second member of the social network. The contact information is provided if the relationship between the first and second members is an authorized relationship. The contact information associated with the first member can be used to update the contact information for the first member in an electronic address book associated with the second member.
Abstract:
Method and computer program product for interacting with a website to obtain an electronic message ("e-mail") address associated with the website's web address. A "smart reply" function is provided, optionally as part of a conventional web browser to provide a consistent user interface. The method includes identifying and obtaining an electronic message address that is associated with the web address, such as the URL in the browser address bar. Having identified a web address, steps are taken toward obtaining an associated e-mail address, preferably including searching a prioritized listing of sources (84,98,98) from which an associated e-mail address may be found. These sources may include, without limitation, a database previously populated by the user, the. website identified by the URL, the DNS, and a search engine.
Abstract:
A method includes associating an e-mail address with a plurality of telephone numbers; associating one of the telephone numbers with a one number service (108); allowing telephone calls to the one of the telephone numbers by selecting the e-mail address. In some embodiments, the allowing telephone calls comprises calling a programmed caller number and calling to a called party number associated with the e-mail address. In some embodiments, a called party and a calling party are subscribers to a one- number service (108).
Abstract:
The present invention is a method to control communication channels using universal and persistent identifiers in circuit / packet switched or converged networks. The method involves linking domain specific addresses or concrete identifiers of communication end points within or across channels, domains and networks with an abstract, persistent and universal identifier that represents the single point of contact or principal identity of the user. The principal identity can specify parameters of inbound / outbound communication relationships with other specified / unspecified users / entities inter-alia through default / specific levels of control in communication relationships on / across / through normal or alternate channels, domains, applications, networks, etc., based on universal / persistent identifiers such as XRI. All transactions originating from, or terminating on, the principal identity are authenticated, asserted securely and routed automatically to an appropriate channel based on the principal identity's current context (state, location, presence, etc.) and privileges (or contracts) defined in rules created by the principal identity for access, usage, privacy, synchronization, compliance, expiry, etc.
Abstract:
A client, a computer-readable recording medium, and method for acquiring a uniform resource identifier are provided. The client includes a message reception unit which receives a plurality of naming authority pointer (NAPTR) records from a domain name service (DNS) server, each of the NAPTR records comprising a URI and an identifier of a user of the URI; and a URI selection unit which chooses one of the URIs respectively included in the NAPTR records by referencing the identifiers respectively included in the NAPTR records. Accordingly, it is possible to choose a URI to be used by a client from among a plurality of URIs included in URI information received from a DNS server.

Abstract:
The invention is a method and a system, which allows the integration of email-enabled devices into a carrier service network without the need for user individual configuration of the devices. A system with an email proxy and a database is provided for handling email requests from a terminal. The network address of the terminal is used to retrieve email configuration settings from the database, whereupon the email proxy is able to communicate with an email server using the retrieved email configuration settings.
Abstract:
A method for processing an electronic mail message is disclosed comprising the steps of: accepting a request for e-mail server address information for an electronic message having an address, the address having an electronic mail receiving system domain with a recipient name encoded therein; providing an e-mail server address for the recipient name in response to the request; accepting the electronic message at the e-mail server address.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for delivering a notification (15) of an email arrival to one or more customer premises equipment (10) to alert users that an email has been received at a mail server (20). The systems and methods comprise receiving a message on an application server (30) where the message includes at least an email addressee. The application server (30) uses the email addressee to lookup a subscriber's directory number or an internet protocol address and user name associated with the email addressee. Based at least in part on this information, the application server (30) sends an instruction a service control point (if the lookup returns a directory number) or to the internet protocol address (if the lookup returns such as address). If the instruction is sent to a service control point, then the service control point causes an advanced intelligent node (44) to initiate a call to the subscriber directory number and send a signal to the telephone customer premises equipment (12, 15). If the instruction is sent to the internet protocol address, then a network node associated with the internet protocol address displays a notification (15) alerting the user that email has arrived on a mail server (20).
