Abstract:
A capability is provided for securely transferring a file within network-based storage. A capability is provided for securely transferring a user file of a user from a first server to a second server. The first server may be associated with a first service provider and the second server may be associated with a second service provider. The secure transfer of a user file from the first server to the second server may be performed based on a One-Click File Transfer capability in which only a single click by the user is needed in order for the user file to be transferred. The secure transfer of a user file from the first server to the second server may be performed based on a Zero-Click File Transfer capability in which the user file may be transferred without any interaction by the user.
Abstract:
Various embodiments provide a method and apparatus for providing a silent speech solution which allows the user to speak over an electronic media such as a cell phone without making any noise. In particular, measuring the shape of the vocal tract allows creation of synthesized speech without requiring noise produced by the vocal chords.
Abstract:
Various exemplary embodiments relate to a method for transmitting data packets in a cellular network to a user equipment using a first distributed access gateway, including: receiving a first tunnel request from a second distributed access gateway; establishing a first tunnel with the second distributed access gateway; receiving a first data packet destined to the user equipment from a native packet transport network; and transmitting the first data packet to the user equipment via the first tunnel to the second distributed access gateway.
Abstract:
Various embodiments provide a waveguide-based polarization rotator that comprises top and bottom claddings of substantially the same material. In some embodiments, the waveguide-based polarization rotator converts between Transverse Electric (TE) and Transverse Magnetic (TM) modes.
Abstract:
Various embodiments provide a method and apparatus of providing a non-overlapping ring-mesh network topology which reduces costs (e.g., the number of network links) while providing resiliency to failure and meeting QoS requirements (e.g., network delay attributed to traversing the network architecture). In particular, a set of target nodes belonging to a cluster are connected through N rings. Each node is member of all N rings and no link between nodes in a ring is duplicated in another ring.
Abstract:
Various embodiments provide a method and apparatus of providing a rapid disaster recovery preparation in cloud networks that proactively detects disaster events and rapidly allocates cloud resources. Rapid disaster recovery preparation may shorten the recovery time objective (RTO) by proactively growing capacity on the recovery application(s) / resource(s) before the surge of recovery traffic hits the recovery application(s) / resource(s). Furthermore, rapid disaster recovery preparation may shorten RTO by growing capacity more rapidly than during "normal operation" where the capacity is increased by modest growth after the load has exceeded a utilization threshold for a period of time.
Abstract:
According to an embodiment, a lensless compressive imaging device may include a shutter array having a plurality of shutter elements that are individually controllable for selectively detecting light. A detector detects light based on how the shutter array allows light to be incident on the detector. A processor provides compressive image information based on the detected light from a single detector.
Abstract:
Various embodiments provide a method and apparatus of providing a network and storage-aware virtual machine (VM) placement that optimizes placement based on network layer metrics, performance characteristics of the storage arrays and application constraints. Advantageously, since storage is often necessary in servicing application requests, basing VM placement on performance characteristics of the storage arrays as well as network layer metrics can lead to a significant improvement in VM performance.
Abstract:
Various embodiments provide a method and apparatus of providing a load balancing configuration that adapts to the overall load and scales the power consumption with the load to improve energy efficiency and scalability. The energy efficient distributed and elastic load balancing architecture includes a collection of multi-tiered servers organized as a tree structure. The handling of incoming service requests is distributed amongst a number of the servers. Each server in the virtual load distribution tree accepts handles incoming service requests based on its own load. Once a predetermined loading on the receiving server has been reached, the receiving server passes the incoming requests to one or more of its children servers.
Abstract:
The backup-in-the-middle primary-backup configuration is created by placing a backup-in-the-middle forwarder in the routing path between the primary and the environment. The backup-in-the-middle forwarder intercepts output messages along with required state information sent by the primary to the environment. The backup-in-the-middle forwarder backs up the primary by updating its state information and forwards the output packets to the environment.
