Abstract: Secure methods of distributing and prescribing prescription medications and related systems significantly increase prescription medication distribution security. Applications of the present invention are particularly useful in prescribing and distributing lifestyle drugs where an actual physical examination is not necessarily required, but are similarly useful for all prescription medications. A system configured according to a particular embodiment of the present invention involves a prescription request kiosk, a prescription request review terminal, a medical information database, and a pharmacy all associated with a prescription distribution system processor. Particular embodiments of prescriptions of the present invention include a photograph of a prescription requestor on the prescription for added security along with additional follow-up questions to be asked by the pharmacist to the customer. Requestors initiate prescription requests by answering a plurality of questions related specifically to the prescription medications requested.

Abstract: A soil amendment for use in the running surface of an animal competition arena comprises highly absorbent and durable calcined clay granules. The clay granules are porous and contain micropores and microstructures to capture and retain moisture for release over time. Additionally, because the clay granules are formed of a particularly hard calcined clay, they are sufficient to support the weight of even heavy animals even when mixed with soft soil such as sand. Methods of fabricating the soil amendment and amending soil include methods which provide the soil amendment granules and arena surface with selected hardness and porosity for the particular soil and use of the arena surface.

Abstract: A cleaning system is disclosed for cleaning contaminants from animal litter. In a first embodiment of the invention, a vacuum and a blower are coupled together and configured so that the blower blows a first fluid stream into animal litter simultaneous with the vacuum drawing a second fluid stream from the animal litter. Relatively light contaminants are drawn into the vacuum while the relatively heavy animal litter is left behind. In a second embodiment of the invention, a cyclonic separator is used to draw the animal litter and the intermixed contaminants into the cyclonic separator simultaneously, and separate the animal litter from the contaminants. The animal litter is returned to the area from which it was removed. In a third embodiment of the invention, mechanical agitation is coupled with air separation to further enhance separation of contaminants from the animal litter. The embodiments of the invention have particular use in cleaning horse stalls to separate the horse bedding from the allergens which collect in the horse bedding over time and present health risks to the horse, and return the horse bedding for continued use. Embodiments of the invention prolong the usefulness of the horse bedding, promote a healthy environment for the horse, and reduce the overall maintenance and health care costs for the horse.

Abstract: A venting system for an animal stall comprises a ventilation layer and an animal bedding layer. Stall flooring configurations comprising an animal bedding layer having moisture dissipating properties and a ventilation layer which circulates air through the animal bedding layer are most efficient. Additionally, a separation layer and/or an airflow dissipation layer may be included. By providing airflow through the animal bedding layer, moisture from the bedding is transferred to the air and carried away. Moisture within animal bedding encourages growth of bacteria, virus and other coliform pathogens and encourages decomposition. Specific ventilation layer examples include pipes buried in the ground and covered with gravel, clay support tiles, urethane and gravel mixture mats and finished surfaces. Perforations or porosity through the ventilation layer surface to the air passageways therein provide paths for airflow into or out of the ventilation layer.

Abstract: A local network communication protocol between a device (Fig. 6) and a network gateway creates an object property table. The mapping of the object property table enables the identification, description, controlling, monitoring, and modification of the objects in the device from anywhere on a network coupled to the network gateway. The protocol establishes a master-slave relationship between the network gateway and the device. The local network communication protocol also supports the IAP process in the device. Using the communication protocol, the communication between the device and a network, e.g., the Internet, can be established without modifying the software and hardware structures of a microprocessor in the existing device.

Abstract: A method of providing genetically personalized food recommendations includes storing, in a food micronutrient database accessible through an electronic device, a mapping of individual micronutrients to genetic information, medical information, and therapeutic objectives, a food menu for at least one restaurant, and nutrient data of each menu item on the food menu. The method also includes receiving and storing genetic information, medical information, therapeutic objectives, and dietary preferences of a user. The method also includes receiving input from the user indicating a restaurant where the user plans to eat food, identifying micronutrient(s) that match the genetic information, the medical information, and the therapeutic objectives of the user based on the mapping, identifying menu items that provide the micronutrient(s) and align with the dietary preferences of the user; and outputting to the user a personalized list of food choices at the restaurant that are healthiest for the user.

Abstract: A water filter system with a filter housing, a filter media, a filter coupling, and a dynamic seal. The filter housing has a top plate and a bottom plate which are both water-permeable, as well as a cavity between the top plate and the bottom plate. The filter media is within the cavity of the filter housing and extends through the bottom plate of the filter housing. The filter coupling extends upward from the top plate and is configured to attach to a float with at least one air chamber. The dynamic seal is coupled to the filter housing along a perimeter of the filter housing and is configured to extend beyond a perimeter of the float, maintain contact with a wall of a water container, and restrict water from passing between the dynamic seal and the wall of the water container.

Abstract: A brake rotor speed reduction system is disclosed. The system includes a brake rotor having a rotor body and a ring gear of a planetary gear system. The system also includes a central axle, and a wheel plate coupled to a hub bearing, the hub bearing coupled to the axle and including a solar gear of the planetary gear system. The system also includes a plurality of planet gears, each planet gear rotatably coupled to a different gear shaft of a plurality of gear shafts and engaged with both the ring and solar gears. Rotation of the solar gear in a first direction drives the rotation of each planet gear about the gear shaft to which it is coupled in a second direction, in turn driving the ring gear to rotate in the first direction and causing the brake rotor to rotate slower than the wheel plate.
