Abstract:
An inhibitive water-based polymer mud system and method for using the system in drilling and in stabilizing wellbores is disclosed for use in water sensitive formations as an alternative to oil-based muds. The system comprises a fresh water or salt water base thinned or dispersed with a water soluble, biodegradable polyamide-based copolymer having at least one grafted side chain formed from ethylenic unsaturated compounds. This system is effective and has stable rheology over a broad pH range, even at a near neutral pH of 8.0. The drilling fluids do not contain heavy metals and are rheologically tolerant to contaminants such as cement, anhydrite and sodium and temperatures as high as about 400°F.

Methods of encapsulation of a tetracycline or one of its pharmaceutically acceptable salts and an antioxidant are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A method of servicing a subterranean formation with a servicing fluid, the method comprising providing a first component of the servicing fluid to a first high-pressure pump at a first pressure, providing a second component of the servicing fluid to a second high-pressure pump at a second pressure, increasing the pressure of the first component of the servicing fluid at the first high-pressure pump to a third pressure, wherein the third pressure is greater than the first pressure, increasing the pressure of the second component of the servicing fluid at the second high-pressure pump to a fourth pressure, wherein the fourth pressure is greater than the second pressure, communicating the first component of the servicing fluid to a high-pressure manifold, communicating the second component of the servicing fluid to the high-pressure manifold, communicating the first component of the servicing fluid from a first high-pressure manifold outlet to a wellhead located at a wellbore, communicating the second component of the servicing fluid from a second high-pressure manifold outlet to the wellhead, and mixing the first component of the servicing fluid and the second component of the servicing fluid at the wellhead to form the servicing fluid.
Abstract:
Improved treatment fluids and methods for use in subterranean operations including the treatment of low permeability shale formations. In one embodiment the methods comprise: providing a treatment fluid comprising an aqueous base fluid and a controlled wetting system that comprises: a water soluble polymer having a charge, a surfactant having an opposite charge, and a compatibilizer; and introducing the treatment fluid into a subterranean formation.
Abstract:
An anchor tool having a housing, a one-way restrictor device in fluid communication with the housing, and a stabilizer affixed to the housing. The one-way restrictor device is configured to allow restricted flow in a first direction, and to allow flow in a second direction.
Abstract:
Methods of forming gravel packs while reducing fluid loss to the surrounding subterranean formation. The methods involve suspending gravel that has been coated with a tackifying agent and degradable fines into a low viscosity carrier fluid and then placing that suspension into a subterranean formation so as to form a gravel pack wherein, as the gravel pack is placed, the degradable fines to de-adhere from the gravel and to fill at least a portion of the pore spaces within the gravel pack so as to reducing fluid loss through the gravel pack.
Abstract:
An expansion device (48) for a wellbore servicing tool (10), comprising a wedge (52) comprising a frusto-conical wall having a tip end (88), the wedge being configured coaxially along a central axis, a plurality of slip segments (50), each slip segment comprising an inner surface having an incline surface, and at least one bridge (94) joining each of the incline surfaces to the frusto conical wall. A method of operating a wellbore servicing tool, comprising longitudinally compressing an expansion device along a central axis, upon sufficient compression, separating plural slip segments from a wedge, moving the wedge relative to the slip segments, upon sufficient movement of the wedge relative to the slip segments, separating at least two slip segments from each other.
Abstract:
Methods and compositions are provided that relate to weighted elastomers. The weighted elastomers may comprise an elastomer and a weighting agent attached to an outer surface of the elastomer. An embodiment includes a method of cementing that comprises providing a cement composition containing cement, water, and a weighted elastomer. In addition, the cement composition may be introduced into a subterranean formation and allowed to set therein.

A saponin or a sapogenin, or a saponin or sapogenin derivative, from a plant of the capsicum genus for use in the treatment of a disease other than eczema and dermatitis. A process for preparing a plant of the capsicum genus, extracts, or seeds thereof for use as a medicament suitable for the treatment of diseases other than skin conditions which process comprises storing the plant, extracts or seeds thereof at a temperature of 2O°C or below.
Abstract:
Methods of determining the wettability of a surface under predetermined conditions, wherein the surface simulates or is a downhole surface for use in an oil or gas operation. The methods include the steps of: (A) contacting the surface with at least a first fluid; and then (B) observing the surface for the presence or absence of a marker to determine the wettability of the surface. According to a first aspect of the inventions, the first fluid comprises a first marker, and the step of contacting is under first predetermined conditions. This aspect also includes the additional step of contacting the surface with a second fluid comprising a second marker. According to a second aspect of the inventions, the step of contacting the surface with the first fluid is under predetermined conditions, and the surface is contacted with a second fluid comprising a second marker. According to a third aspect of the inventions, the first fluid comprises a first marker, the surface is contacted with a second fluid comprising a second marker, and both steps of contacting are performed under predetermined conditions.
