Abstract:
The present invention relates to a courseware using visual auditory simulation technique that incorporates multimedia flash to systematically foster the attention for normal (3 - 6 years chronological) and special children (7 — 12 years chronological); and 2) to ascertain the effectiveness of Visual Audio Simulation Technique in promoting on-task behavior of normal (3 - 6 years chronological) and special children (7 - 12 years chronological). The invention adopts both the quantitative and qualitative approaches by using a visual auditory simulation technique in promoting the on-task behavior of 30 normal and 30 special children. The frequency of on-task behavior before and after the intervention will be recorded.
Abstract:
An apparatus (100) for surgery comprises a first arm member (110) and a second arm member (120) movable in relation to one another in a same planar through a pivoted portion (130), in an open and close position, which is controlled by a pair of handle (140 and 150); at least one through hole (190a or 190b) are made onto one of the arm member (110 or 120); and a first blade (160) and a second blade (170), each defined by a tip (161 and 171) and a body (162 and 172) as well as a base (163 and 173), perpendicularly extended in parallel from the first (110) and second arm members (120) respectively; wherein both blades (160 and 170) have substantially flat portion started from the tip (161 and 171) to the body (162 to 172) followed by an expanded portion around the base (163 and 173) attached on the arm member (110 and 120) that the expanded portion defines a groove therein enclosing the through hole (190a or 190b) in the close position.
Abstract:
A method for producing an aqueous sugar solution from cellulosic materials comprising the steps of heating ground cellulosic materials with perchloric acid; neutralizing the heated materials with an alkali to yield a salt precipitate; and filtering the salt precipitate off to obtain the aqueous sugar solution.
Abstract:
A proposed wind, solar and rain harvester is described. The hybrid wind harvester (10) comprises a power-augmentation-guide-vane (12) and a wind turbine (14) sharing a centre axis as the guide vane. The novel power-augmentation-guide-vane (11) has an upper wall duct (22) and lower wall duct (24) inclined at an angle of 2 degrees to 75 degrees from the horizontal plane. The power-augmentation-guide- vane creates a venturi effect to increase the speed of wind entering the wind turbine to harvest more wind energy. A solar panel or solar concentrator is provided on top of the upper wall duct. A rain water passage and storage compartment is provided where rain water flows form the upper wall duct towards the rain water passage and storage compartment.
Abstract:
A process for designing and fabricating a custom-fit implant, comprising: a) processing medical image data of a patient's pathologically defective or anatomically deformed area having a symmetrical part to construct a three-dimensional (3D) digital model; b) forming a mirror image of the left or right side of the three-dimensional (3D) digital model based on its axis of symmetry depending on which side the pathologically defective or anatomically deformed area is; c) overlying the mirror image on the original image to form a composite image with a non-overlapping area wherein the implant will be fitted; d) generating a digital implant by cutting off the non-overlapping area of the mirror image; e) designing mounting points between the digital implant and the pathologically defective or anatomically deformed area where the implant is mounted thereon; f) building a positive and a negative moulds based on the digital implant to fabricate a custom-fit implant.
Abstract:
Described is a method for the preparation of Mo-V-Te-Nb catalyst comprising the steps of a) preparing a slurry comprising ionic species of Mo, V, Te and Nb and an inert carrier by combining the inert carrier in ceramic form with one or more solutions comprising the above metal ionic species; b) drying of the slurry to obtain a particulate product; c) precalcining the dried particulate product at a temperature of 150-350°C in an oxygen-containing atmosphere; d) calcining the precalcined dried particulate product at a temperature of 350-750°C in an inert atmosphere to obtain the catalyst. Further, a catalyst obtainable by the said method as well as uses thereof are described.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a new platform for the transient production of a recombinant protein in Mucuna bracteata via vacuum-assisted agro-infiltration. In a specific embodiment, the present invention discloses a process (10) for producing a recombinant protein comprises introducing a plasmid into an Agrobacterium (12) and infiltrating the Agrobacterium which harbored the plasmid into the plant of Mucuna bracteata via a vacuum-assisted agro-infiltration method (14).
Abstract:
An apparatus is adapted from a food processor [10] to scarify seeds. The blade of the food processor is removed. An abrasion channel [24] is formed in the container by two layers of sand paper. The abrasion surface of the sand paper is in an opposing manner to scarify seeds placed in the channel. The first layer of sand paper [26] is affixed on the rotation surface of a rotatable shaft [14]. The second layer of sand paper [28] is affixed in a radius of the shaft. It takes around two minutes to scarify Mucuna Bracteata seeds.
Abstract:
