    Abstract: A track joint assembly (34) in a track-type machine (10) includes a track link (28) having a pin bore (48) and a bushing bore (50) formed therein. A track pin (30) is attached to the track link (28) within the pin bore (48), and a track bushing (52) is attached to the track link (28) within the bushing bore (50). The track pin (30) and the track link (28) are attached by way of a tight interference-fit, and the bushing (52) and track link (28) are attached by way of a light interference-fit. Once placed in service, the bushing (52) can commence rotation during track operation to reduce wear and obviate the need for bushing turns during servicing.

    Abstract: An articulated chain assembly (36) includes standard links (38), a master link (40), and pins (42) pivotably coupling together the standard links (38) and master link (40). The master link (40) includes a first half link (50) and a second half link (56), and bolt holes (78, 82) extending through the first half link (50) and the second half link (56). A first bolt (96) is within a first one of the bolt holes (78) and has a necked-down bolt shank (104) defining a lesser necked-down axial length.     Abstract: A composite track shoe and an endless track suitable for a tracked vehicle is described herein. The composite track shoes has a shoe body with a first bearing block extending from a first lateral edge and a second bearing block extending from a second lateral edge. The shoe body also has a center guide extending from a first face thereof the shoe body. A track pad is detachably secured to the track shoe and extends from a second face of the shoe body opposite the first face. An endless track is formed by interlinking the first bearing block on a first track shoe with the second bearing block a second track shoe positioned adjacent to the first track shoe. A pin extends through the first bearing block of the first track shoe and the second bearing block of the second track shoe for pivotally coupling them together.

    Abstract: A steel track chain component (162, 164, 166, 168, 202, 204), such as a track bushing (204), may be formed with a carburized portion (404), a hardface portion (412), and a core portion (410). The core portion (410) may be softer than the carburized portion (404), which in turn, may be softer than the hardface portion (412). This configuration of the various portions of the component (162, 164, 166, 168, 202, 204) may allow for relatively high wear resistance of the component (162, 164, 166, 168, 202, 204), as well as toughness. The core portion (410) may be mostly ferrite crystal structure, while the carburized portion (412) and the hardface portion (412) may include martensitic and/or austenitic crystal structure. The carburized portion (412) may be formed by carburizing the track chain component (162, 164, 166, 168, 202, 204) in a heated and carbon rich environment. The hardface portion (412) may be formed by welding a hardface alloy over at least a portion of the carburized portion (404).
