A weather strip for vehicles is disclosed. The weather strip (100) of the present invention is brought into close contact with a body panel (10) of the vehicle or with a weather strip of the body panel (10) to have a sealing effect. The weather strip (100) includes a close contact member (200), which is provided in a hollow space (110) of the weather strip or on the inner or outer surface of a strip body (130) defining the hollow space (110) therein. The close contact member is brought into close contact with or is removed from the body panel or the weather strip of the body panel through the supply or interruption of power depending on conditions. Furthermore, the close contact member may adjust the degree of contact force thereof in response to the speed at which the vehicle travels, or in response to the difference in pressure between the interior and the exterior of the vehicle.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zum Anbringen eines Dichtungsprofils (1) an einem Bauteil, insbesondere der Peripherie (2) eines Öffnungsabschlusses (3) eines Kraftfahrzeuges, z.B. einer Tür, durch Anrollen. Dafür wird das Bauteil (3) relativ zu einer Anrolleinheit (5) bewegt, die das mit Klebemittel versehene Dichtungsprofil (1) an die Peripherie (2) des Bauteils (3) andrückt. Zum Führen und Andrücken des Dichtungsprofils (1) sind am Anbringungsort (A) seitliche Borde (10a, 10b) in Form von angetriebenen oder nicht angetriebenen Kreisscheiben und dazwischen eine Andrückrolle (11) vorgesehen. Die Andrückrolle (11) ist gegenüber den Borden (10a, 10b) aus einer inaktiven Position in eine aktive Position in Richtung des Anbringungsortes (A) und umgekehrt verstellbar. Die Unabhängigkeit von Führungs- und Andrückmitteln (10a, 10b, 11) gewährleistet, dass das Dichtungsprofil (1) positionsgenau und mit der optimalen Anpresskraft am Anbringungsort (A) angedrückt werden kann.

An apperance feature for a weatherstrip or seal (26) bonded directly to a glass window or light (22) includes a seal assembly comprising molded material (32) and polyurethane (34) bonded directly to the glass and an applique (40) which is secured to the polyurethane material before it cures. The applique may be of any material having suitable shape, colour, appearance and weatherability. The applique includes a first, appearance surface (42) and a second, attachment surface which includes projecting pins, chevrons, loops, stirrups and the like which are mechanically held in the polyurethane when it has cured.

A sealing or guiding assembly for sealing or guiding a corner of a closure member such as a window (109) for an opening is disclosed. The sealing or guiding assembly is attached to a frame (8) comprising panels (22,24). Strips (91) of flexible material extend towards and meet at the apex of the corner and are shaped to receive the closure member (109) at the corner and are adapted to be supported by a comer support which forms part of the frame (8). A flap (170) of flexible material is joined to the strips (91) in the region of the comer and bridges across the comer between the strips (91). The strips include inner lip (102) and outer lip (103). The joins (160) and (162) between the moulded flap (170) and the (preferably extruded) material of the strips (91) is obscured from view by the lips (102) and (103).

A cross-piece (16) for dividing the window frame carried by a vehicle door (8) into a small part for receiving a fixed pane of window glass (54) and a large part for receiving a vertically slidable pane of window glass (56) defines two oppositely facing channels (52, 53). Channel (53) receives the slidable pane of window glass (56) and is formed by an extruded sealing profile (58). The extruded sealing profile (58) is mounted in rigid division bar (74) which extends between the channels (52,54). The assembled sealing profile (58) and division bar (74) are then placed in a mould with a fixed pane of window glass (54) during which the division pillar (92) is formed by a moulding operation. This moulding operation moulds the division pillar (92) to the fixed pane of window glass (54), the division bar (74), and also to the extruded sealing profile (58) at regions (98,100).

Eine Kunststoff Randprofilleiste (10), die zwischen einer Fahrzeugscheibe (26) und einer Wasserkasten-Abdeckung einsetzbar ist, weist einen Federschenkel (14) und einen Hauptschenkel (12) auf, zwischen denen ein Rastelement (40) der Wasserkasten-Abdeckung verrastend einsteckbar ist, und einen Anlageschenkel (16) zur Anlage an der Innenfläche (32) der Fahrzeugscheibe. Der Hauptschenkel (12) kann mittels eines Haftschmelzklebers (28) mit einer Schmalseite (34) der Fahrzeugscheibe (26) abdichtend verklebt sein. Die Randprofilleiste (10) weist ein weichmetallähnliches Biegeverhalten auf, was eine einfache Montage mittels eines dazugehörigen Montagekopfs (100) ermöglicht.

Ein Verfahren zum Herstellen eines Dicht- oder Zierstreifens, insbesondere für ein Kraftfahrzeug (10), der ein erstes Bauteil (20) und ein zweites Bauteil (30) aufweist, die stirnseitig aneinandergrenzen, weist folgende Verfahrensschritte auf: a) Extrudieren eines ersten Bauteils (20) aus einem ersten Werkstoff; b) Versehen des ersten Bauteils (20) mit einem Endabschnitt (21), der eine Oberseite (22), eine Unterseite (23) und eine Stirnseite (24) aufweist; c) Versehen des Endabschnitts (21) mit einem Hohlraum (25), der sich im Inneren des ersten Bauteils (20) erstreckt und an der Stirnseite (24) mündet; d) Spritzgiessen eines zweiten Bauteils (30) mittels einer Formmasse, die aus einem zweiten Werkstoff besteht, wobei während des Spritzgiessens das erste Bauteil an der Stirnseite 15 stoffschlüssig mit dem zweiten Bauteil verbunden wird und die Formmasse in den Hohlraum eindringt. Bevorzugt wird das erste Bauteil als Dichtung (20) und das zweite Bauteil als eine die Dichtung (20) an dem Endabschnitt (21) abschliessende Endkappe (30) ausgebildet.

A vehicle weatherstrip, beltstrip or door sea includes a hybrid carrier or core and extruded or molded elastomeric sealing features. The hybrid carrier includes lineal sections of diverse flexibility and compressibility which are achieved by upsetting the metal carrier by lancing, stamping or coining and, optimally, stretching. Preferably, the carrier is manufactured in a continuous length, the elastomeric material is extruded or molded thereover and the resulting product is cut into useable lengths having the desired more flexible and more rigid regions disposed along its length which correspond to corners and straight sections, respectively, or for example, a glass run.

A sealing, trimming or finishing strip (4) comprises a longitudinally extending sealing part (6) defining a longitudinal hollow interior which becomes partially compressed in use, the hollow interior of the sealing part being provided with means (27) for controlling the compression of the sealing part (6). In an embodiment described, the compression controlling means (27) comprises an interior wall (22) spanning the hollow of the sealing part and thereby defining first and second longitudinally extending hollows (24, 26). The interior wall (22) includes a portion of relatively large cross-section, bulbous cross-section. The compression controlling means (27) may provide a "stop" which prevents or substantially reduces any further compression of the sealing part (6) beyond a desired amount.
