Abstract:
There is prpvided a dispenser (10) for rolls of paper(12), including a housing with two spaced-apart sides (16, 16') and a rigid member (18) connecting the spaced-apart sides and one axle (20) extending between the sides, the axle having a plurality of rollers (22, 24) strung therealong and rotatable thereabout and being positioned to engage a curved surface of a roll' of paper placed in the dispenser. A plurality of the rollers is arranged for at least partial non-circular rotation wherein a point on the outer surface of the rollers ascribes an elliptical path while engaging a surface of the roll of paper. The rollers are arranged for elliptical rotation, which will impart to the roll of paper a rocking and wobbling motion, thereby reducing the contact, friction and drag between the surfaces of the roll of paper and the surfaces of the remaining rollers along the axis.
Abstract:
A rolled tissue product having a nonwoven tissue web wrapped or wound about a flexible core is generally provided. The flexible core is constructed of a polymeric sheet of synthetic polymers. The tissue sheet has a tensile strength in the machine direction that is weaker than the strength of the flexible core. For example, the flexible core can be at least twice as strong as the tensile strength in the machine direction of the nonwoven tissue web. The flexible core can include a nonwoven web of synthetic polymeric fibers, a polymeric film of synthetic polymers, or combinations thereof. In one embodiment, the flexible core can include a hydrophilic synthetic polymer such that the flexible core disintegrates when submerged in water. In another embodiment, the flexible core can include an elastomeric polymer that provides an elastic component to the flexible core.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a centreflow web roll dispenser, which dispenser may have a housing comprising a first section for attaching the dispenser to a support surface, a second section at least partially enclosing a radial circumference of a web roll, a third section enclosing a lower part of the web roll, a fourth section enclosing at least an upper part of the web roll, and an exit port in connection with said third section for dispensing a web from said web roll, wherein a cross-section through the dispenser taken perpendicular to a central axis through a hole in the web roll has a major axis and a minor axis, wherein the major axis is substantially parallel to the support surface for the dispenser. The invention further relates to a web roll for use in such a dispenser and a method for compressing such a web roll.

The dispenser also includes at least a removable orifice plate for controlling the movement of sheet material from the housing through the exit port. Methods of using and adjusting a dispenser having a removable orifice plate.
Abstract:
There is provided a system for dispensing a plurality of perforated wipes having a perforation detach strength characteristic. The system includes a dispenser having a dispensing force characteristic and including a sealable chamber. The chamber is configured to retain the plurality of perforated wipes therein. A dispensing opening is in communication with the chamber. The opening is adapted to dispense wipes from the plurality of perforated wipes through the opening and out of the dispenser. A wiper blade is positioned in the dispenser to engage at least a portion of the wipes as the wipes dispense through the opening. When dispensing, a ratio of the perforation detach strength characteristic to the dispensing force characteristic is greater than 1:1.
Abstract:
There is provided a roll of wet wipes that may be used in a system and apparatus for dispensing wet wipes. The system may include a housing, a tray and a cartridge. The cartridge has the ability to be inserted into the dispenser in a pre-selected manner based on the desired orientation of the wipes contained therein.
Abstract:
An adapter for a dispenser is disclosed herein, the adapter including at least one carriage unit (52) which is slidably mounted within a dispenser. In selected embodiments, the adapter of the present invention includes a frame (14) which is mountable within a dispenser, the carriage unit (52) slidably mounted within the frame (14). Each carriage unit (52) includes a pair of spaced apart arms (58, 60), each arm (58, 60) having an outboard surface (66, 68) and an inboard surface (62, 64). An outboard pin (98, 100) is disposed on the outboard surface (66, 68), the outboard pin (98, 100) configured to slidably engage a channel of a dispenser. An inboard pin (104, 106) may be rotatably attached to the inboard surface (62, 64), the inboard pin (104, 106) configured to engage a coreless roll of material.
Abstract:
A system for dispensing coreless rolls of product (12, 710). The system includes: (1) a rotary dispenser (10, 40, 100) including a frame (14, 42, 102), a mounting means, and a pair of cooperating plungers (28, 52, 114), each plunger (28, 52, 114) including: a base, the base being fixed to the frame; a distal end, the distal end having a radius of curvature; and a central shaft, the central shaft connecting the base and the distal end and providing sufficient length so the plunger (28, 52, 114) has a length at least as great as its widest dimension so the plunger (28, 52, 114) is adapted to penetrate a mounting hole (800) defined at an end of a coreless roll product (12, 710), and (2) a coreless roll (12, 710) of product that is self-supporting in the rotary dispenser (10), the coreless roll (12) including: a rolled web of product that is wound substantially throughout its diameter about a winding axis (806, 906) into a cylinder having first and second flat ends (712); and at least one flat end (712) defining a mounting hole (800) at substantially the center of the winding axis (806, 906) of the coreless roll (12, 710), the mounting hole (800) having a depth and having side (702) generally perpendicular to the end (712) of the roll (12, 710), the sides (702) being separated by a distance that is less than the depth of the hole (800). The mounting hole (80) of the coreless roll (12, 710) is adapted to receive a plunger (28, 52, 114) from a rotary dispenser (10) such that radial displacement of the coreless roll (12, 710) with respect to the frame (14, 42, 102) is prevented during use.
Abstract:
A coreless roll (10, 106) of product that is self-supporting in a rotary dispenser. The roll includes a rolled web of product that is wound throughout its diameter about a winding axis into a cylinder having first and second flat ends (112, 112'). At least one flat end defines a mounting hole at substantially the center of the winding axis of the coreless roll. The mounting hole has a depth and has sides generally perpendicular to the end of the roll. The sides are separated by a distance that is less than the depth of the hole such that the mounting hole is adapted to receive a plunger (200, 200') from a rotary dispenser (202). Methods of making the coreless roll are also described.
Abstract:
A gravity-operated apparatus for sequentially dispensing sheet material from rolls (30, 32) of sheet material. The apparatus includes a housing (38) having an opening; a rotatable turret (12); arms (18) extending perpendicularly from the rotatable turret (12), each arm (18) being offset and extending a sufficient distance to provide clearance for a roll (30, 32) of sheet material; a cantilevered spindle (22) extending from a distal portion of each arm (18) so that each spindle (22) is positioned generally parallel to the rotating turret (12) and is adapted to receive a roll (30, 32) of sheet material; means (26) on each spindle (22) to secure the roll (30, 32) of sheet material on the spindle (22); and a limit gate (36). Each cantilevered spindle (22) extends from a distal portion of each arm (18) so that the weight of a full roll (30, 32) of sheet material on the spindle (22) urges the turret (12) to rotate placing a full roll (30, 32) of sheet material at a dispensing position. The limit gate (36) is positioned to impede rotation of the turret (12) when the limit gate (36) encounters a spindle (22) containing a roll (30, 32) of sheet material that is less than substantially depleted.
