Abstract: This invention is directed to a pivot unit for use with barrier devices which may be connected end-to-end to form a barrier wall. The pivot unit comprises first and second end connectors, each of which may be coupled to the end of one barrier device, and a hinge post extending between the end connectors. The hinge post is mounted by a pin to each end connector allowing pivotal motion of one end connector, and the barrier device to which it is coupled, through an angle of at least 90° relative to the other end connector and its associated barrier device.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a prefabricated road median wall. The prefabricated road median wall includes a plurality of unit blocks (10) manufactured by mixing rubber powder with a fire retardant material. A plurality of support holes (11) are vertically formed through each of the unit blocks (10), so that the support holes (11) communicate with each other. The prefabricated road median wall further includes a locking means (20) to couple the stacked unit blocks (10) together, thus forming a median wall body (1); and a plurality of anchor posts (30). Each anchor post (30) is embedded at a lower part thereof in the ground while a remaining part of the anchor post (30) is exposed to the outside, so that the exposed part of the anchor post (30) is inserted into each of the support holes (11) of the median wall body (1).

Abstract: A modular barrier consists of a plurality of identical barrier sections. Each section (10) includes a base portion (12) surmounted by an upright portion (14). The upright portion has projections (16, 18) with substantially semicylindrical outer surfaces at its ends. Correspondingly shaped recesses (20, 22) are also provided. At a female end, the base portion (12) includes a nose (28). The surface of the nose is a surface of rotation of the profile of the base portion (12). At the male end, the base portion (12) includes a correspondingly shaped cavity (30). The first and second projections (16, 18) and nose (28) are provided with bores (32, 34, 36). By means of this device, one barrier section can be articulated to the next and the joint between the two base portions of adjacent barrier sections presents an essentially smooth profile irrespective of the angle between the two.

Abstract: A road barrier comprises an elongate container configured to receive and hold a volume of water. The barrier is made from a plastics material and has a base, end walls, each of the end walls having means for releasably coupling the barrier in end to end relation with a like barrier, side walls, and a top. The barrier includes a water fill hole in its top to enable the barrier to be filled with water and a discharge hole near its base for enabling water to be discharged from the barrier. The side walls of the barrier define a lower face which is inclined and extends outwardly away from a central longitudinal axis of the barrier, a step portion which extends inwards towards the central longitudinal axis of the barrier and an upper inclined face which extends away from the central longitudinal axis of the barrier. This contouring of the side wall helps to prevent vehicle tyres from riding up the sides of the barrier. The road barrier includes a plurality of mounting means, located at each side of both ends of the barrier adjacent the ends of the barrier, at the base of the barrier and also at the top of the barrier adjacent the upper inclined faces. The mounting means are used for mounting latch plates to the barrier to enable one barrier to be connected on both sides top and bottom to the mounting means of another opposed barrier in end to end relation. The barrier also includes a visible float to indicate whether the barrier is full of water or not.
