Abstract:
Abstract:
A layered structure for providing an image on a desired surface comprises a backing substrate layer carrying an image, on optional protective coating over the image and a material with adhesive properties for adhering the backing substrate layer to the surface. The material with adhesive properties may be an adhesive such as a bituminuous compound, pressure sensitive adhesive, a thermoplastic material or a curable composition.
Abstract:
Daylight fluorescent articles are disclosed that utilize durable fluorescent pigment particles resulting from a fluorescent dye incorporated within a matrix polymer selected from polycarbonate, polyester and mixtures thereof and where the particles are of various desired shapes and sizes. Embodiments of such fluorescent pigment particles may also be retroreflective and are especially useful for pavement marking surfaces and retroreflective products for highway transportation safety.
Abstract:
The pavement marking article comprises a substrate, a plurality of protrusions provided on the surface of the substrate, and first transparent microspheres having a refractive index of not less than 2.0 fixed at least on the surface of the substrate between adjacent protrusions.
Abstract:
A method of transferring matters to be displayed including designs, patterns and characters onto all types of object surfaces, such as surfaces of roads, paved footpaths, floors and walls, comprising sticking a transfer sheet (3), which is formed by providing one surface of a substrate (4) with a layer of a display material (5) showing matters to be displayed including designs, patterns and characters, on a surface of a layer of a ground material (2) applied in advance to an object surface, and then transferring the display material (5) onto the surface of the ground material (2) by peeling off the substrate (4).
Abstract:
A method of sealing and marking pavement with recognizable indicia. The method can be used in connection with newly formed pavement surfaces or existing pavement which is to be resurfaced. The method includes the steps of providing a marking material (B) to form recognizable indicia on a surface (A) of pavement and applying the marking material (B) to the surface (A) to form such recognizable indicia. The method further includes the steps of providing a protective layer (F) for protecting the recognizable indicia and positioning the protective layer (F) over the recognizable indicia. Next a sealant (G) is provided and applied to an area immediately adjacent the protective layer (F). The sealant (G) is applied such that its thickness is substantially equal to the thickness of the recognizable indicia. As such, the top surface of the recognizable indicia is in substantially the same plane as the top surface of the sealant.
Abstract:
A conformable marker sheet (200) comprises a conformance layer (1) comprising a composition comprising a ductile thermoplastic polyolefin and segments of an amorphous polyolefin. The segments can be polymerised with the ductile thermoplastic polyolefin to form an amorphous ductile thermoplastic polyolefin. Alternatively, the segments can be polymerised to form an amorphous thermoplastic polyolefin additive. The sheet exhibits excellent conformability, environmental stability, and durability.
Abstract:
A pavement marking article that has an adhesive composition for adhering the article to a pavement substrate, where the adhesive composition includes a reaction product of an acrylic acid ester of a monohydric alcohol whose homopolymer has a Tg less than 0 DEG C, a non-polar ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and 0-10 parts by weight of a polar ethylenically unsaturated monomer. Preferably the amount of the acrylic acid ester is about 60-90 parts by weight, and the amount of the non-polar ethylenically unsaturated monomer is about 10-40 parts by weight.
Abstract:
Retroreflective article (80) that provides effective retroreflective brightness at very high entrance angles as well as low entrance angles and under wet conditions. The article comprises spherical refracting elements (60) having an index of refraction above 1.35 and below 1.75 adhered to the cover (66) film of an enclosed-lens retroreflective base sheet.
Abstract:
A pavement marking (10) includes a base sheet (12), a barrier layer (30), a layer (32) of bonding material, a multitude of optical elements (34), and skid-resistant particles (36). The base sheet (12) contains rubber and fillers and has a number of protuberances (14) projecting from its front side (28). Valleys (16) are disposed between the protuberances (14). The barrier layer (30) is disposed on the front side (28) at least in valleys (16) and preferably over protuberances (14). The layer (32) of bonding material is disposed predominantly on protuberances (14) and in this position secures the optical elements (34) and skid-resistant particles (36) to the protuberances (14) but not to the valleys (16). The coverage of the front side (28) of base sheet (12) with barrier layer (30) and bonding material (32) prevents the fillers in the base sheet (12) from becoming present on the top surface of the pavement marking (10) and thereby preserves the intended color of the marking (10).
