Abstract:
A device (12) is disclosed which is for use in retrieving debris from a well. In one embodiment, the device includes an elongate body (20); a main bore (22) extending part way along a length of the body, along which fluid flows into the device; an opening (24) towards a lower end of the body; a main fluid chamber (28) in the body in fluid communication with the main bore; a flow restriction (30) provided in the main bore, through which fluid flows from the main bore and into the main fluid chamber; at least one chamber outlet (32) for . directing fluid from the main fluid chamber into an annulus defined between the device and a well borehole wall; a return flow passage (40) extending between the body opening and the main fluid chamber, for return flow of fluid from the annulus to the main fluid chamber, to facilitate retrieval of debris from the well; and at least one fluid exit (44), for flow of fluid returned to the main fluid chamber through the return flow passage out of the device. In use, fluid flowing through the main bore is accelerated through the restriction such that the pressure of fluid exiting the restriction is lower than at a location upstream thereof, to draw part of the fluid returned to the main fluid chamber through the return flow passage into and through the chamber outlet, thereby recirculating said part of the fluid into the annulus. This assists in the retrieval of debris from the well.
Abstract:
A flushing device (20) comprising an inner sleeve (21), axially slidable relative to an outer sleeve (23). The inner (21) and outer (23) sleeves cooperate to define an inner passage (32) for the flow of a fluid, and are permanently coupled such that there is substantially no rotational movement between the two sleeves. The inner passage (32) has an inlet (22b) and an outlet (22a). The outer sleeve (23) has a plurality of flushing outlets (33) which, when the flushing device (20) is in an open condition allow fluid to be diverted from the inner passage (32). The flushing device (20) also comprises an indexing mechanism (80) which indexes between a first position, wherein the plurality of flushing outlets (33) are blocked from the internal passage (32) such that the flushing device (20) is in a closed condition, to a second position, wherein the plurality of flushing outlets (33) register with the internal passage (32) such that the flushing device (20) is in the open condition. When fluid flows through the flushing device (20), the flushing device (20) is configured such that it remains in the selected open or closed condition regardless of the forces acting thereupon.
Abstract:

The diameter of the lower tubular bore is preferably about 1.3 times the diameter of the upper tubular bore.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a downhole service tool for imaging a location constituting a work site of interest downhole at which a tool operation is to be performed in a preexisting wellbore and for performing a tool operation at the work site during a single trip of the tool. The downhole service tool includes an imaging device which sensors properties associated with the work site and generates data representative of the work site. The imaging data is transmitted to the surface via a two-way telemetry system. An end work device in the downhole service tool performs the desired tool operation at the desired work site. The service tool images the work site, communicates imaging data to the surface and performs the desired operation during a single trip into the wellbore.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the boring of oil and gas wells. The method consists in extraction, by separation, of the coarse and fine fractions from the isolating material and in successive plugging of the well wall with these fractions by means of jet treatment from nozzles. The invention is applicable in particular for isolation, directly during the boring process, of zones presenting complications to prevent the absorption of the drilling and plugging mud into these zones and to improve function effectiveness of the rock-crushing instrument.
